The aerial footage firenado was captured today in the Bundamba suburb of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. The state authorities issued an emergency warning telling people to flee their homes as they said that the blaze could not be brought under control. It comes after fire crews on the east coast of the country, in Queensland and New South Wales (NSW), are currently tackling more than 100 bushfires. It is thought that more than 3,000 firefighters have been deployed in the area and have been aided by 21 Canadians as well as crews from America.🔥
A rape victim who was savagely attacked and set on fire on her way to a court hearing in the case has died in a hospital in New Delhi as protests have erupted across the state in anger at the crime. The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was attacked in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh by a group of men on Thursday, including two of the five she had accused of gang rape last year who were out of custody on bail. She suffered 90 per cent burns to her body and died late on Friday from a cardiac arrest. Five men had been arrested and question in connection with the burn attack. Relatives of the woman and hundreds of locals have gathered outside her house in Unnao in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh to mourn her death. Protestors in the capital Delhi organised a candle light march to the India Gate in her memory, and demanded justice for the accused.

Thousands of black-clad protesters from all walks of life thronged the streets of Hong Kong on Sunday in a sign of broad support for anti-government demonstrations that have roiled the Chinese-ruled city for six months, reported Reuters. The former British colony is governed under a “One Country, Two Systems” formula that guarantees freedoms not allowed in mainland China, but many fear Beijing is tightening the screws on the city and increasingly meddling in its affairs. Beijing denies meddling, has condemned the unrest and blamed foreign governments, including the United States and former colonial power Britain, of interfering in the country’s internal affairs. Police said earlier on Sunday they had arrested 11 people, aged 20 to 63 and seized weapons including army knives, firecrackers, 105 bullets and a semi-automatic pistol, the first seizure of a handgun in six months of protests. #HK

A police officer in Arkansas was shot and killed behind a police department late Saturday night before the suspected shooter was gunned down by responding officers in a nearby alley, FOX News reports. The Fayetteville Police Department said in a news release the incident happened around 9:41 p.m. when officers inside the station heard gunshots, went outside and discovered an officer down in a back parking lot and a suspect fleeing the area. “It appears the suspect came into the back parking lot and just executed my officer,” Fayetteville Police Chief Mike Reynolds said at a brief news conference. Reynolds told reporters that the suspect was chased into an alley between the police department and the city prosecutor's office. Officers then "engaged the suspect," and shots were fired, injuring the suspect.

A Houston police officer was killed in the line of duty Saturday night, shot multiple times while responding to a domestic violence call, authorities confirmed. A woman reported to police that her boyfriend was assaulting her and armed with two firearms. When Sgt. Christopher Brewster, 32, found the couple three streets away from the house police had responded to, the suspect shot him as he got out of his car, police said.

Paris police skirmished with yellow vest activists today for the 56th weekend in a row while highway blockades and train strikes disrupted weekend travel around the country. The demonstrations have been held to protest the government's overhaul of France's national retirement system. A few thousand yellow vest protesters marched from the Finance Ministry complex on the Seine River through southeast Paris, pushing their year-old demands for economic justice - and adding the retirement reform to their list of grievances. Most marchers were peaceful but some threw projectiles or pushed riot officers, prompting repeated bursts of tear gas from police. 🇫🇷
