The demonstrations started near the Harriet Tubman Memorial and marched through Upper Manhattan to the Bronx. At least 58 people are reported to have been arrested as civilians and police officers clashed throughout the night. One video shows a police officer mocking a civilian by allegedly saying, 'if he can yell, he can breathe,' when the man was said 'I can't breathe' when being arrested. This protest follows a similar one held in Brooklyn on November 1. They spawned after viral video showed incidents where MTA officers are accused of using excessive force against passengers.
