Hundreds of thousands of Northern California residents are bracing for another possible power outage as the state's utility companies warned that a return of bad weather which could spark wildfires could prompt shut-offs. Southern California Edison is warning it could cut power later in the week to about 132,000 customers in six counties to prevent winds from damaging electrical equipment and starting wildfires. And Pacific Gas & Electric says it has given 24-hour notice to customers in 16 Northern California counties that it may shut off electricity to prevent gusty winds from downing power lines and sparking wildfires. The utility says about 189,000 homes and businesses could be affected on Wednesday. PG&E says it's concerned that winds forecast to hit 60 mph could throw branches and debris into power lines or topple them, sparking wildfires. 🌘

Two people have died and four more are missing after freak flash floods hit Spain, causing chaos and destruction in the north-east region. A tornado ripped through the tourist island of Ibiza yesterday, damaging buildings, uprooting hundreds of trees and leaving residents stranded. Following the storm - which caused streets to be flooded and cars to be swept away across the country - the body of a 75-year-old man was found. He was discovered on a beach in the town of Caldes d'Estrac, 40 kilometres north of Barcelona, after being reported missing yesterday when he went to move his car which had been swept up by a swollen river. Emergency teams had searched throughout the night form him before today recovering his body, according to police in Catalonia. 🌪💦😱
