We are so sad to report that Jackie, the beloved bald eagle mother, has passed away.

Her cause of death was not immediately released. She spent more than three weeks in a rehab facility after being found in the water in critical condition for unknown reasons.

“It is with profound sadness that we share that Patient 26-519 (Jackie) passed away in the early hours of this morning, following more than three weeks of intensive medical care,” wrote the Ojai Raptor Center. The experts there had been working tirelessly to restore her health.

The devoted eagle mom became famous around the world thanks to a livestreaming camera perched above her nest in California’s Big Bear Valley. Jackie showed incredible devotion to her eggs and eaglets, once sitting on her eggs for nearly 62 hours straight to protect them from a blizzard.

Her partner, Shadow, has been a caring dad and partner, bringing fish and other meat to Jackie and their babies.

Jackie will be deeply missed by people around the globe.

NEW: A Colorado State Patrol trooper and two others are in the hospital after a four-car crash on Interstate 70 east of the Eisenhower Tunnel.

The incident happened on Monday, Aug. 10, around 10:45 a.m. and briefly shut down both sides of I-70.

According to CSP, a trooper who is also a K9 handler was parked on the right shoulder of I-70 eastbound when he got a call about a crash on the westbound side of the highway. The trooper turned on his emergency lights and turned left to get towards the westbound lanes when a Subaru Forester going east hit the driver's side door of the patrol car.

Both cars went across the center median and hit two more cars that were in the westbound lanes, a Chevrolet work truck and GMC Sierra, officials say.

According to CSP, the trooper suffered injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital where he is expected to recover. His K9, Buck, was taken to a vet as a precaution.

NEW: A Pinellas County deputy is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend before taking his own life after an argument over a TV set on Monday.

Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco and Pinellas Sheriff Bob Gualtieri held a news conference late Monday evening detailing the murder-suicide investigation that involves Pinellas Deputy Troy Savetz. 

Nocco said this began unfolding Monday when the victim was returning to her Hudson home, in the Phyllis Lane area, with her two kids, ages 9 and 12, after a beach trip. When they returned, though, Nocco said Savetz — who was reportedly armed with a gun — was there and started arguing with the mother about a TV set.
