At midnight, the same time tragedy struck 14 years ago, APD officers, loved ones, survivors and community members gathered at the 7/20 Memorial Garden for a vigil to remember and celebrate those lives lost.
As part of the tradition, officers conducted a silent procession past the Century 16 theater before arriving at the 7/20 Memorial Garden.
It is a powerful reminder that, even 14 years later, this tragedy is not forgotten. The procession reflects the strength and resilience of our community, as well as the unwavering commitment of the first responders who answered the call that night. Many of the same officers who responded on July 20, 2012, continue to return each year to honor the victims and stand beside those forever impacted.
Today, we remember the 12 lives taken, the 70 people injured, including 58 who suffered gunshot wounds, and the countless others whose lives were changed forever.

⚠️Chute Fire: Flames flare up and prompt Yuba County CA evacuations.
Evacuation orders were issued Monday for a fire that started last week in Yuba County. The Chute Fire started July 13 at the Chute Ravine near Dobbins, Cal Fire said. For days, it appeared that crews were getting a handle on gaining control of the fire and fully extinguishing it. However, AlertCalifornia cameras show smoke in the area. Cal Fire's incident page showed multiple aircraft in the area, including an air tanker.

Crime continues to dominate the headlines. Our beaches and public spaces are increasingly struggling with homelessness, unsafe crack heads, and untreated drug addicts creating serious safety concerns for residents, workers, and the millions of tourists who visit Santa Monica every year.
ZERO meaningful solutions, only $32 billion stolen from taxpayers in the name of helping solve the Homeless problem and the only results are Gavin Newsom getting a new $9 million vacation home !! corrupt Karen Bas just talks with no real results. She’s too busy on vacations to do her job whenever there’s an emergency !!! We need real results not more billions wasted taxpayer dollars, and leadership that seems disconnected from the reality on our streets.

A man was shot and killed in Santa Monica overnight. As of 7:00 a.m., police were still securing the scene and covering the victim while detectives searched for the suspect.
Another death. Another crime scene. Another family forever changed.

BREAKING: Sen. Rand Paul, the Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, has just released internal federal documents which he says show that the FBI intervened and stopped CBP from searching and questioning Peter Daszak upon his return to the US from China at JFK airport in 2021 during the WHO's investigation into the origins of the COVID-19 scamdemic.
The documents show that CBP's National Targeting Center had flagged Daszak, President of EcoHealth Alliance, as an "extremely high person of interest" ahead of his arrival in the US, citing his more than 15 years of collaboration with the Wuhan Institute of Virology and his role as principal investigator on NIH grants funding bat coronavirus research in China, and that "much of the funding DASZAK receives is put towards gain of function research."
The documents reveal that CBP had a series of questions they planned to ask Daszak when he landed and were going to search his media, until they were told to stand down by the FBI, Bill Melugin reports.
In an email dated 2/4/2021, a CBP official notifies others within CBP:
"Please be advised that FBI New York has requested we do not stop the subject below."
Chairman Paul says as a result, the stop, search, and questioning of Daszak never happened.
