WHCA dinner suspect Cole Allen pleads not guilty

Illinois: One person is in custody and an officer was injured after an early morning officer-involved shooting resulted in an explosion.

Just after 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 10, officers with the Washington Police Department were called to the 900 block of Mallard Way after multiple gunshots were reported, said Police Chief Jeff Stevens.

The chief said a person inside the multi-unit building fired on officers. One Washington officer returned fire.
An officer from an assisting agency received a minor injury during the gunfire exchange with the suspect. The officer was examined at the scene and remained on duty, Stevens said.
For currently unknown reasons, an explosion and fire occurred at the home from which the suspect was shooting. All residents in the building were displaced due to the fire damage.

BREAKING: Firefighters are currently fighting a large fire at the HF Sinclair Refinery in west Tulsa, Oklahoma. At least one person reported in serious condition.

Tulsa FD: "At 11:00 a.m., Tulsa Fire Crews responded to HF Sinclair Refinery to provide standby support in cause needed during a fire that occurred at the facility. Berryhill Fire crews were also standing by to assist if needed. The refineries fire brigade handled the fire and returned our crews to service."

BREAKING: Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard is investigating more than 120 biological laboratories abroad that were funded by US taxpayer dollars for decades, as part of an effort to end potentially risky experiments with viruses pursuant to President Trump’s executive order on so-called “gain-of-function” research.

Gabbard told The Post Monday in a statement that her team is going “to identify where these labs are, what pathogens they contain and what research is being conducted to end dangerous gain-of-function research that threatens the health and wellbeing of the American people and the world.”

“The COVID-19 pandemic revealed the catastrophic global impact research on dangerous pathogens in biolabs can have,” the spy chief also said.

NEW: One of the San Diego Padres’ top prospects self-deported to Mexico after pleading guilty to human smuggling charges, Jennie Taer reports.

Border Patrol agents caught Humberto Cruz, who came legally to the US, in October transporting two Mexican illegal immigrants at the Arizona border. He was offered $1,000 for each person he picked up at different locations through pin drops sent to his phone by an unknown contact.

The Padres signed Cruz, the right-handed pitcher from Mexico, in February 2024 for a $750,000 bonus.

Cruz, 19, later pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to improper entry and expressed “sincere regret for a recent lapse in judgment that has caused disappointment to many people I deeply respect,” he said in a statement issued by the Padres.
