NEW: Dallas Texas police officer injured, man shot in confrontation in Highland Park.

Dallas Police are investigating an early morning incident on Sunday that left an officer injured and a man with a gunshot wound after a traffic stop near the Highland Park area.
Police said a Dallas officer attempted a traffic stop about 2:16 a.m. in the 4100 block of Mockingbird Lane after spotting a vehicle driving without headlights.
According to police, a passenger got out of the vehicle and walked toward the officer’s squad car.

Both the officer and the man were taken to the hospital. Officials have not publicly identified the man or the officer. Their conditions were not immediately released.
The officer exited his vehicle and ordered the person to return to the car, but the man continued to approach and struck the officer at least once in the face.
The officer then drew his weapon and fired at least two shots, hitting the man at least once, police said.

Police said the driver of the vehicle drove away and remains at large.

ICYMI: A parachutist flying into the Virginia Tech spring football game got stuck in the scoreboard after they were "blown off course," according to a university spokesperson. First responders got him safely on the ground and he was released with no serious injuries.⁠

UPDATE: At about 6:30 pm last night, SSO received a call regarding individuals at Howe Park possibly carrying concealed weapons. We received a second call from another party reporting that there may have been a fight and that people were running. Air support checked the park and was unable to locate any fights or people running away.

We determined that several hundred people were gathered in the park, possibly in relation to a “UC Davis Picnic Day”. Park authorities were notified, and they advised that it was an unauthorized gathering. They requested SSO to clear out the park. Deputies surrounded the park with lights on their vehicles, activated their sirens, and made public address announcements for people to leave the area for about 15 minutes.

At that time, deputies heard 20-25 gunshots in the area. People in the park fled the area. Deputies located 4 separate victims with apparent gunshot wounds. All victims were transported to the hospital in stable condition.

The victims, a 24-year-old male, a 25-year-old male, a 21-year-old male, and a 23-year-old female, all had non-life-threatening injuries. 3 appeared to suffer from gunshot wounds, and one suffered a laceration (grazing wound).

Additionally, a vehicle of interest was located in Fairfield and detained by Solono County SO. The three occupants (2 females and a male) were detained and interviewed by SSO detectives. A search of the vehicle was conducted, and a firearm was located. This is still an active investigation, and these subjects’ level of involvement is unknown at this time.

Praying for the Tuscaloosa Police officer who was injured in the line of duty last night.🙏🏻

Alabama: A Tuscaloosa Police Department motorcycle officer was injured in a collision with a vehicle Saturday evening.

TPD confirms the collision occurred at approximately 11:45 p.m. at 13th Street and 10th Avenue while the motorcycle officer was working escort detail.

While few details about the crash are available at this time, TPD said the officer suffered injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

TPD also said bystanders that were nurses provided medical assistance until paramedics arrived and the officer was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Colorado State Patrol trooper injured in crash in La Plata County.

The Colorado State Patrol says one of its troopers suffered minor injuries after a vehicle blew through a stop sign and struck her on Saturday afternoon.

According to CSP, the trooper was traveling on Highway 172 through the intersection of La Plata County Road 311 around 3:14 p.m. when a blue Dodge sedan failed to stop at a stop sign. They said the sedan struck the left-rear side of her patrol vehicle, which then collided with a white Dodge truck before traveling off the south shoulder of the highway.

CSP said the drivers of the sedan and the truck were not injured in the crash, and there were no passengers in either vehicle. Troopers suspect the 50-year-old Durango man driving the sedan of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and placed him under arrest.

The injured trooper was taken to an area medical facility for treatment of minor injuries. She has since been released. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for her recovery🙏🏻

BREAKING: Today, an Iranian-flagged cargo ship named TOUSKA, nearly 900 feet long and weighing almost as much as an aircraft carrier, tried to get past our Naval Blockade, and it did not go well for them. ⚠️Emergency Road Closure Update – I-40 / Newberry Springs Area 🚧

Interstate 40 near Newberry Springs is currently closed due to a major semi-truck fire.

The alternate detour route via National Trails Highway is not fully closed, but traffic is being flagged through a single lane in both directions due to roadway failure and significant hazards in the area.

San Bernardino County Public Works crews are on scene actively assessing damage and making emergency repairs to safely reopen access as soon as possible.

⚠️ Please avoid the area if possible and seek alternate routes. Expect delays and follow all posted signage and directions from emergency personnel.

U.S. forces operating in the Arabian Sea enforced naval blockade measures against an Iranian-flagged cargo vessel attempting to sail toward an Iranian port, April 19.

Guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance (DDG 111) intercepted M/V Touska as it transited the north Arabian Sea at 17 knots enroute to Bandar Abbas, Iran. American forces issued multiple warnings and informed the Iranian-flagged vessel it was in violation of the U.S. blockade.

After Touska’s crew failed to comply with repeated warnings over a six-hour period, Spruance directed the vessel to evacuate its engine room. Spruance disabled Touska’s propulsion by firing several rounds from the destroyer’s 5-inch MK 45 Gun into Touska’s engine room. U.S. Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit later boarded the non-compliant vessel, which remains in U.S. custody.

BREAKING: Two U.S. officials and two Mexican officials have died in "a car accident" in the northern Mexican state of Chihuahua while supporting local authorities in efforts to combat cartel operations, the U.S. embassy and state authorities said Sunday.

"We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of two U.S. Embassy personnel, the Director of Chihuahua’s State Investigation Agency (AEI), and an AEI officer in this accident.  We honor their dedication and tireless efforts to confront one of the greatest challenges of our time.  Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their loved ones.

This tragedy is a solemn reminder of the risks faced by those Mexican and U.S. officials who are dedicated to protecting our communities.  It strengthens our resolve to continue their mission and advance our shared commitment to security and justice, to protect our people."
