In the early morning hours of February 8, 2026, Officer Cody LeVassar tragically lost his life while off duty. At this time, no further details will be released.
Officer LeVassar was a dedicated law enforcement officer, a loving family man, and a valued friend to many. His commitment to serving others and his devotion to his family and community will never be forgotten.
We ask the community to please keep Officer LeVassar’s entire family in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time. We also ask for prayers for the men and women of the San Augustine Police Department as we grieve this loss and navigate the days ahead.

DEVELOPING: Monitoring a developing situation unfolding at Palmetto Elementary in Palmetto, Georgia that’s prompted a large law enforcement response.
Source is confirming there has been a shooting.
However, we do not know the extent of who was involved but it’s our understanding the suspect is on the run possibly in a black Denali SUV.
More details will be provided as they become available.
UPDATE: All staff & children are safe, following a shooting at Palmetto Elementary in Palmetto, Georgia.
School is on hard lockdown.

Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors - including the removal of recording devices. The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems.
Working with our partners - as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie's front door the morning of her disappearance.

There are certain statute of limitations at which the DOJ might not be able to prosecute...however If they use the Civil Rights statute they can to my knowledge bring forward prosecutions."

If the victims can come forward and provide direct testimony... at least hearing what the victims have to say and see if they can bring forward criminal prosecution under the Civil Rights statute trafficking is covered by that."
