Tense scenes erupted after a violent criminal was shot dead by police on a New York street with a crowd of people filmed hurling profanity-laden insults at officers and screaming for them to die. The police-involved shooting occurred on Tuesday morning in Staten Island when #NYPD officers were called to a home following reports of a domestic violence incident. Authorities say ex-con Gregory Edwards, 39, immediately became combative with the four officers who responded to the home. Police said they were forced to taser him in an attempt to arrest him but Edwards pulled out a gun and fired two rounds at the officers. The officers immediately fired back and fatally shot Edwards. A female officer was struck in the hand during the shootout.

The Navy says spectacular footage released in 2017 that appears to show 'unexplained aerial phenomena' is authentic, but that the footage was never meant to be made public. The clips were first published by The New York Times in December of that year and were recorded by Department of Defense officials on two separate occasions. One clip was recorded near San Diego, California back in 2004, while a second video was captured off the coast of Jacksonville, Florida in 2015. Three people have been injured after a car smashed into the lobby of one of Donald Trump's buildings in suburban New York. The driver of a black Mercedes-Benz C300 coupe crashed into Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, just outside Manhattan, on Tuesday night. Officials in the Houston area were preparing high-water vehicles and staging rescue boats Tuesday as Tropical Storm Imelda moved in from the Gulf of Mexico, threatening to dump up to 18 inches of rain in parts of Southeast Texas and southwestern Louisiana over the next few days. The storm, which formed Tuesday, made landfall near Freeport, Texas, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph. Jeff Lindner, a meteorologist and director of flood operations for the Harris County Flood Control District in Houston, said the main threat from Imelda remained the potential for heavy rainfall and flooding. An Arkansas police department has employed its own kitten 'pawfficer' for its office — and the addition of the new animal has warmed the hearts of people online. The Fort Smith Police Department in Fort Smith, Arkansas, shared on Facebook Friday the newest member of its team, and the team member came in the form of a blue-eyed kitten.
