We are appalled and heartbroken by the antisemitic terror attack in Sydney, Australia on the first night of Hanukkah. We refuse to remain silent and condemn this heinous act of antisemitism.

Our hearts are with the families of the innocent victims, and we pray for all who were wounded. 💔🕯️

We encourage all Angelenos, especially those attending synagogues and Hanukkah celebrations, to keep the following safety practices in mind:

• Stay alert: Maintain heightened situational awareness when attending religious services or community gatherings.

• Report concerns: If you see suspicious behavior or activity, call 9-1-1 immediately.

• Review protocols: Community and faith leaders are encouraged to revisit their security procedures and connect with LAPD if additional patrols or support are needed.

As Jews around the world gather around our menorahs on this first night of Hanukkah, we are reminded how desperately the world needs more light and more Kiddush Hashem.

It is unimaginable to fathom the pain these families are enduring, and our hearts are with every loved one affected.

Rob Reiner, wife dead in Brentwood; reports suggest family member involved.

No suspect or person of interest has been named after legendary Hollywood director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife were found dead in their Brentwood home on Sunday, but family members will be interviewed as part of the homicide investigation, according to police.

BREAKING: After an intense investigation, the Department of Justice, working with our FBI, prevented what would have been a massive and horrific terror plot in the Central District of California (Orange County and Los Angeles).

The Turtle Island Liberation Front—a far-left, pro-Palestine, anti-government, and anti-capitalist group—was preparing to conduct a series of bombings against multiple targets in California beginning on New Year’s Eve. The group also planned to target ICE agents and vehicles.

This was an incredible effort by our U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the FBI to ensure Americans can live in peace. We will continue to pursue these terror groups and bring them to justice.

In the early morning hours of December 11, 2025, CHP South Lake Tahoe officers attempted to stop a driver on Pioneer Trail for suspected DUI. During the encounter, the driver resisted arrest, re-entered his vehicle, and fled the scene. During the escape, a CHP officer was injured after being dragged a short distance by the vehicle while attempting to detain the suspect.

With the assistance of multiple local law enforcement agencies, an arrest warrant was obtained. On December 12, 2025, the suspect, identified as Aidan Anthony Bissell of South Lake Tahoe, was located and taken into custody at the Kirkwood Ski Resort.

Bissell was booked into the El Dorado County Jail on multiple felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, resisting arrest with injury, felony evading, and driving under the influence.
