This evening, Porter Police Officer Matthew Reynolds received a Life Saving Award from our friends at the Chesterton Police Department during their Police Commission meeting.
Earlier this year, Officer Reynolds responded to assist the CPD with a call for service involving a severely injured citizen. Officer Reynolds- a Marine and trained Emergency Medical Responder- administered life saving aid along with two of our CPD colleagues.
Porter Police Chief Dickey stated βOfficer Reynolds has proven time and again his dedication to the Duneland community. His commitment to training for these critical moments cannot be overstated. We appreciate our friends at CPD for this recognition and applaud all of the officers involved.β
Pictured is Officer Reynolds with his lovely wife, Samantha.

Texas: College Station police arrested this 20-year-old from Round Rock after, according to officers, he punched a firefighter in the face.
Police say he was intoxicated on University Drive and tried to run when he saw them β but tripped on a curb, then ran into a parked car, and fell again. Not exactly an elite escape plan.
Medics were called to check him out, and thatβs when police say he swung at a firefighter and punched him in the face. He also injured the firefighter's hand, police said.
Heβs now facing a list of charges β and hopefully rethinking every decision leading up to that curb.

BREAKING UPDATE: Per multiple border law enforcement sources, a U.S. Border Patrol agent shot & killed a suspected cartel smuggler after he came across the river & allegedly assaulted the agent in Starr County, TX, (Rio Grande Valley) this afternoon. Iβm told it happened in Border Patrolβs Rio Grande City area of operation, and the agent is okay.
This is one of the most dangerous areas of the border for cartel activity. We spent many days there during the border crisis. Itβs where we repeatedly saw suspected cartel gunmen caught on trail cameras moving through the brush, Border Patrol vehicles hit by gunfire, gunmen standing in broad daylight on the other side of the river, tracer rounds from a M240 machine gun being fired above a TX National Guard post, and shootouts and grenade battles on the Mexican side of the river between different cartel factions.

Prayers for the Broward County Sheriff's deputy who was shot in the line of duty earlier today.ππ»
Florida: A suspect was shot and a Broward deputy is okay after a shooting during a burglary investigation in Margate on Thursday, the sheriff's office said.
Around 2:30 p.m., the Broward Sheriff's Office Burglary Apprehension Team (BAT) was working an investigation near 6100 NW 2nd St. in Margate when a shooting involving deputies happened.
According to BSO's Public Information Officer Miranda Grossman, the situation first began when the Seminole Hard Rock Casino & Resort requested the agency's help in apprehending the suspect.
When deputies encountered the suspect, shots were fired, though it remains unclear who shot first, Grossman said. A deputy was struck by the suspect but was protected by his bulletproof vest and did not sustain life-threatening injuries. BSO said the suspect was also shot.
Both the deputy and the suspect were taken by paramedics to the hospital. BSO did not provide further details regarding the conditions of either the suspect or the deputy.

WATCH: Police officials are expected to provide an update this afternoon on the condition of Sgt. Erik LeVasseur, the Port St. Lucie officer who was shot twice in the face while on the job. Last we heard from officials, LeVasseur was undergoing a third surgeryβ¦
Update on Sgt. Levasseur:
Port St. Lucie, FL: The Port St. Lucie Police Department is providing an update on the condition of our sergeant, Erik Levasseur, who was critically injured during the officer-involved shooting that occurred on December 1st, 2025.
On Tuesday (December 9th, 2025), surgeons successfully removed additional remains from a bullet discovered during evaluation. The bullet shrapnel was lodged deeper than initially expected, but the procedure went well. Sergeant Levasseur is awake, alert, and remains at the Trauma Intensive Care Unit (TICU) located at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital, where he continues to receive exceptional medical care.
Currently, he is awaiting further consultation regarding potential reconstructive surgery on his face. His eyes have sustained significant trauma, and while he currently has no vision, doctors advise that it will take time, healing, and potential future procedures, including eye surgeriesβto better determine his long-term prognosis.
Medical staff have confirmed there are no concerns of brain damage and his tracheostomy remains in place in preparation for any additional surgeries that may be required.
Despite these challenges, Sergeant Levasseur is fully aware ofβand deeply moved byβthe tremendous outpouring of support from his coworkers and community. The strength of this community continues to encourage him and his family every day.
We ask the public to continue keeping our sergeant, his loved ones, and our department in their thoughts and prayers as his recovery journey continues. Additional updates will be shared as appropriate.
On behalf of the Levasseur family, PSLPD would like to thank all those who have contributed, supported and donated to his recovery. It has been a beautiful outpour and an overwhelming response from the community. We would also like to thank all who are currently involved in preparing Sgt. Levasseurβs home for his eventual release from medical treatment. This future planning is providing a guiding light to his spirit and momentum.
