Rocks from the most pivotal moment in Earth's history were discovered offshore of the Yucatan Peninsula, according to a study released Monday. The finding is "the most detailed look yet into the aftermath of the catastrophe that ended the Age of Dinosaurs," said study lead author Sean Gulick, a research professor at the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics. When the asteroid smashed into the Earth 66 million years ago, the impact ignited wildfires, triggered tsunamis and blasted so much sulfur into the atmosphere that it blotted out the sun, which caused the global cooling that killed off the dinosaurs. The study found hard evidence of this scenario in the hundreds of feet of rocks that filled the impact crater within the first 24 hours after the strike.💥🦖

On the eve of the 18th anniversary of the September 11 attacks comes a grim stastic: 241 #NYPD cops have died of illnesses related to their work at the World Trade Center after the tragedy. That's 10 times the number of officers who actually died when the towers came down. 'The unfortunate part is that number continues to grow,' Deputy Commissioner Robert Ganley told ABC News. 'It's heartbreaking. It's very sad. It's sad for the department. It's sad for the families left behind.' Similarly, the FDNY lost 22 members from 9/11-related ailments, and that's only since the last anniversary of the worst terrorist attack on US soil, which claimed almost 3,000 lives. The names of the almost two dozen fire personnel were added to the FDNY World Trade Center Memorial Wall. 🗿

Donald Trump defended his hair as being ‘mine’ during a campaign rally here Monday evening, where he attacked Barack Obama, joked about having a third term and threw out random bits of information – such as claiming first lady Melania Trump told him of Diamond and Silk’s support of his candidacy and turned him on to the duo. Originally scheduled for the Fayetteville Regional Airport, it was moved to the Crown Expo Center, because it had a bigger capacity and the weather forecast predicted rain. ‘I was even willing to stand out in the rain and get my hair soaking wet but they said it was a little bit out of your district,’ Trump told the crowd of his original thought of where to hold the rally, which would have been outside of the 9th congressional district that is holding the special election Trump was in town to tout. #MAGA

Boris Johnson blasts Brexit ‘yellow bellies’: PM again refuses to ask EU for a delay

BORIS JOHNSON last night told MPs he will flatly refuse their demand for a Brexit delay. In his most passionate Commons speech yet, the Prime Minister confirmed the Government was digging in to resist Remainer attempts to force him to go to Brussels and beg for the departure from the EU to be postponed again.

PUBLISHED: 07:00, Tue, Sep 10, 2019

He said: “For the last three years, they have schemed, plotted and conspired to overturn the verdict of the British people delivered in a referendum, which in a crowning irony almost all of them voted to hold.”

Mr Johnson said that Mr Corbyn and his “cronies” had been “trying to disguise their preposterous yellow bellies by coming up with ever more outrageous excuses for delaying an election until the end of October, or perhaps November or perhaps until hell freezes over.”
