JUST IN: Chicago Police officers work the scene where a 2-year-old boy fatally shot himself in the face inside of a residence on the 300 block of E. 87th Street in Chicago, Illinois, on September 8, 2025. Monday afternoon, a 2-year-old boy sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the facial area and was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A male identified as the father who is the owner of the gun and who has been classified as a person of interest was put in handcuffs at the scene. Detectives are investigating the tragic scene. Crime scene tape was placed outside of the residence.

NEW: OMB signals President Trump would sign into law HR 3486 (Stop Illegal Entry Act) if it were to come to his desk. The bill would create a mandatory minimum 5-year prison term for any alien who enters the US illegally and gets convicted of a felony. It also increases the maximum prison term for illegal re-entry from 2 to 5 years.

The bill also establishes a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 10 years and allows a life sentence for an individual who was convicted of a felony before deportation, or convicted of illegal reentry at least two times before removal, and who subsequently enters or tries to enter the United States.

NEW: HSI Integrated Operations Group arrested Victor Manuel De Jesus Tinal-Puc, 45, of Mexico, Sept. 7. Tinal has been charged with battery on a person, possession of a controlled substance, and obstructing a public officer. He is in ICE custody pending removal.

The Hawaii Police Department sadly announced the death of K9 Archer. K9 Archer, a dedicated partner and protector, passed away on September 4, 2025, after being left unattended in a police vehicle. The Hawai'i Police Department is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
