The Emigrant Fire outside Oakridge, Oregon saw a whirlwind of ever changing conditions over the last 48 hours. Crews went from chasing spot fires to driving through sleet and snow.

Lines are in place and 1/3+ of the fire’s edge has yet to burn down to those control lines. The nearly 32,000 acre fire will be slowed by the weather that has come in, but at 0% containment, there is still a lot of work to do. Crews continue with snag removal, lining spot fires, and catching new starts from lightning in the area.

In the hours after 9/11, the unexpected became essential. A Burger King near Ground Zero became a command center for police officers and emergency responders, helping coordinate evacuations, track missing people, and manage rescue operations. Heroism isn’t just in running into danger β€” it’s also in organizing, planning, and ensuring every life is accounted for.

Officers adapted, improvised, and showed that courage comes in many forms.

At least one person is dead and five others hurt, two critically, after a man opened fire at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday at the Alas Locas sports bar in Colony Ridge near Cleveland in the northern part of Liberty County.

LCSO says two of the five injured were taken to hospitals by helicopter and are listed in critical condition.

The suspect left in a full-size white van with no windows that had a long scratch on the side.

Blue Line Tennessee, a nonprofit, gave a check to Knox County Deputy Matt Kirchner on Saturday, after he was injured in a serious crash.

Court records stated that, on July 27, Kirchner responded to a call about a fight in a parking lot when a Nissan Rouge traveling at high speeds struck his car. Emergency services took Kirchner to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Blue Line Tennessee raised money to support Kirchner, including over $13,000 through GoFundMe.

β€œHe is still going [to] need several more surgeries on his leg and then he will start rehab,” Blue Line Tennessee wrote. β€œIt will be some time before he will [be] back to patrolling the streets of Knox County.”
