One Texan helping another. It’s not just what we do, it’s who we are.

Yesterday, we got a Facebook message from Jamie Stanford, a retired Fort Worth police officer with a heart as big as the state. She was heading south, determined to bring meals and hope to first responders and anyone in need. She asked if we wanted to help — and of course, we said yes. A check was written, groceries and water were loaded up, and Jamie hit the road without hesitation.

Today was her first day. She served food to weary volunteers, and even a couple who had just lost everything when their home was swept away near Kerrville. Some stopped by just for a sandwich. Others came a prayer more than a plate. Jamie was proud to offer both.

In the face of devastation, Jamie brought comfort. In a time of need, she showed up. Texans like Jamie remind us that in our darkest hours, there’s always light — and it often comes from one another. We could use a lot more people like Jamie in this world!
