Pavel Durov talked about their plans to officially start recommending Mini Apps and bots to users later this year.
Out of 900 million monthly active users, 360 million interact with Mini Apps every month. We can easily double this number if we start suggesting Mini Apps and chatbots to our audience. We havenβt started doing that yet, but this is coming later this year.

Telegram is Preparing to Launch a Store for Bots and Mini Apps
Pavel Durov recently shared plans to develop a platform for bot and mini-app developers.
According to Durov, the recently introduced payment system "Stars" is not only beneficial for developers but also complies with Apple and Google rules. Therefore, Telegram plans to recommend bots and mini-apps that accept star payments in appropriate sections of the apps.
As an example of such recommendations, the founder of Telegram mentioned the "AI" section in the upcoming mini-app store. This section could be displayed to business representatives who add bots for handling customer feedback, as well as bots that assist users with the official sticker editor.

The official BotNews channel has published a post about the updated requirements for bots and mini apps on Telegram. Now, they must provide users with their privacy policy; otherwise, Telegram may "suspend or terminate" their operation.
Bots and mini apps must comply with all applicable privacy rules, including those of Apple and Google stores.
To continue complying with Appleβs Rule 5.1.1 (i), bots and mini apps must provide a Privacy Policy that details what data they store, how they collect it, and for what purpose.
Continuing to operate without such a Privacy Policy will result in the suspension or termination of the bot on Telegram.
Mini-apps can make their Privacy Policy easily accessible by adding a link to it on the "Settings" page, while bots should make it available through the /privacy command.
Further information about these requirements can be found in the relevant section of the Bot Developer Terms of Service.

Standard Privacy Policy for bots
In early July, all bots and mini apps were required to provide a Privacy Policy detailing how they handle user data.
Yesterday, Telegram published a Standard Privacy Policy which applies by default to all bots and mini apps that don't have their own. This Policy broadly covers the data handling practices of most apps on Telegram, simplifying compliance for developers and adding transparency for users.
Additionally, developers can now set their own Privacy Policy directly within @BotFather bot. This Policy will be available to users through a special button in the settings menu of their mini apps.
More information can be found in Section 4 of the Bot Developer Terms.

Telegram Again Displays The MAU of Bots
About one day ago, users noticed that Telegram had once again started displaying the number of monthly active users (MAU) of some bots.
Observations from our subscribers indicate that the MAU is only displayed when this value exceeds 10,000. However, there are exceptions: for example, the @wallet bot, which undoubtedly has many more users.
The @tginfo editors have no information about whether the platform really uses this value as a limit, or whether there are other factors that affect the display of MAU.

Telegram Updates Requirements for Mini-Apps Using Blockchain
On January 21, 2025, following an agreement with TON, Telegram updated its Terms of Service for bot developers, which introduce new rules for mini-apps that use blockchain or promote cryptocurrency services.
Key Changes:
β’ Exclusive Use of TON Blockchain: Mini-apps must use TON Blockchain exclusively to create, distribute, and manage cryptocurrency tokens or blockchain assets.
β’ Mandatory Use of TON Connect SDK: Interactions with crypto wallets must be facilitated through TON Connect SDK. Other protocols are permitted solely for transferring assets from other blockchains.
β’ Restrictions on Wallet Promotion: Promotion of cryptocurrency wallets is prohibited unless the wallets:
β’ Operate exclusively on TON Blockchain,
β’ Use TON Connect exclusively for app interactions,
β’ Primarily provide services related to TON.
Deadlines and Actions for Developers:
β’ Immediately: Stop using other blockchains for tokens or assets and migrate to TON Blockchain.
β’ By February 1, 2025:
- Transition to TON Connect SDK for wallet-related apps.
- Remove advertisements and links to wallets and services that donβt meet the new requirements.
β’ By February 21, 2025: Fully migrate the app to TON Blockchain, including assets and smart contracts.
Who Is Not Affected:
β’ Developers of regular bots without mini-apps.
β’ Creators of mini-apps that do not use blockchain technology.
β’ Developers whose mini-apps do not promote blockchain-related services.
β’ TON multi-chain wallets that allow users to send and receive Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, and other cryptocurrencies.
β’ Wallets offering staking programs for tokens such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and others.
β’ Wallets enabling cross-chain token swaps directly through their app interface.
Telegramβs official service accounts are sending notifications to mini-app developers, requiring them to adapt their blockchain usage. Developers with questions about the migration to TON are advised to contact @BotSupport with the hashtag #MigrationToTON.
Interestingly, Telegramβs move comes after its founder, Pavel Durov, criticized Appleβs monopolistic practices with the App Store. Now, Telegram itself is introducing restrictions that may be perceived as an attempt to monopolize blockchain services on its platform.
