The code update in the official repository of Telegram Desktop on GitHub has provided more details regarding the upcoming update in addition to the list we previously published:

• Changelogs in stories

In future Telegram updates, the platform is likely to start sharing its changelogs in the form of stories.

• Different limits for Telegram Premium owners and regular users

Story caption
: 200 characters for regular users and 2048 characters for Telegram Premium owners.

Story self-destruct timer: We are still not certain, but it seems that it will be possible to set a lifespan for stories up to 30 days (or hours, as there is no exact information yet) for regular users and up to 100 days for Premium users. There are no screenshots on the translation platform that include such values.

• Ability to report stories

Stories will be displayed on user profiles. In the stories themselves, it will be possible to mention (@username) other users, who will receive corresponding notifications. In order to prevent abuse of this feature, the messenger's team will add violation reporting functionality for stories.

• New format for in-app advertising

A new advertising format will be introduced in channels (not in stories): image + text + link. The link can also lead to an external resource, for which Telegram will add click tracking for advertising links.

It is important to note that all information is based on assumptions from the API schema, so the story mechanism may undergo some changes before the release.

The Advertisement Platform Testing Phase Is Supposedly Over

Recently, a paragraph in the explanation of Sponsored Messages was removed which was indicating that the feature is currently under testing:

Sponsored Messages are currently in test mode. Once they are fully launched and allow Telegram to cover its basic costs, we will start sharing ad revenue with the owners of public channels in which Sponsored Messages are displayed.

To view this explanation yourself, find any sponsored message, click the “Sponsored” label, and choose “What are sponsored messages?”.

We are currently unaware of any plans for sharing ad revenue with public channel owners.

New Features on the Telegram Ads Platform

Over the past few weeks Telegram Ads (the official advertising platform) has undergone several significant changes. Let’s explore the new possibilities now available to advertisers:

External links with no length restrictions:
This new feature allows advertisers to add special UTM tags to the URLs entered, providing detailed information about each traffic source.

Fast food advertising now permitted:
The previous ban on promoting fast food products on the platform has been completely lifted.

Information about reasons for ad rejection:
Telegram now informs advertisers which specific group of requirements their ad doesn’t meet, such as “Destination quality”, “Destination functionality”, “Irrelevant destinations”, or “Manipulation of content.”

Metrics viewing for CTR, CPM, CPC, CPS of published ads:
Thanks to this new feature, advertisers can assess the effectiveness of their advertising campaigns.

Ability to use custom emojis in ad text:
Capture the attention of potential clients and subscribers using unconventional emojis.

Changes on the Telegram Ads Platform

Over the recent period, the official advertising platform Telegram Ads has undergone several significant changes. Here’s an overview of the new features now available to advertisers:

Targeting not just channels but their audiences. Instead of targeting specific channels, some authors can now target the audience of those channels. When setting up an ad, you can specify a list of channels, and their subscribers will see the ad not only on those channels but also on others.

Using Target topics intersection. Ads can be tailored to users interested in multiple topics simultaneously.

Setting display limits per person. Advertisers can set the frequency of ad displays to a specific user, ranging from 1 to 4 times per day.

Device segmentation. You can choose between iOS or Android devices, mobile or desktop platforms, or opt-out of device type segmentation.

The minimum rate for 1000 impressions is now €1.5, in the Politics & Incidents category, it’s €0.75.

The option to restrict ad displays in channels of the Politics & Incidents category.

Private links for ads. Advertisers can now use individual invitation links in ad campaigns for more accurate statistics, but the channel must remain public.

Adding an avatar to the ad. When promoting a channel or bot, their avatar will be used, and when advertising a website, you can upload your image; otherwise, it will be generated based on the site’s data.

Viewing statistics on new subscribers from ad campaigns is possible in the channel’s statistics section.

Using 12 different captions for buttons. The following captions are available: “Visit site,” “Subscribe,” “Watch,” “Read,” “Learn more,” “Open,” “Register,” “Buy,” “Order,” “Play,” “Try,” “Submit request.”

Ad Income Sharing for Telegram channel owners

Pavel Durov announced that in March Telegram channel owners can start getting paid their work:

Broadcast channels on Telegram generate 1 trillion views monthly. Currently, only 10% of these views are monetized with Telegram Ads — a promotion tool designed with privacy in mind.

In March, the Telegram Ad Platform will officially open to all advertisers in nearly a hundred new countries. Channel owners in these countries will start receiving 50% of any revenue that Telegram makes from displaying ads in their channels.

To ensure ad payments and withdrawals are fast and secure, we will exclusively use the TON blockchain. Similar to our approach with Telegram usernames on Fragment, we will sell ads and share revenue with channel owners in Toncoin. This will create a virtuous circle, in which content creators will be able to either cash out their Toncoins — or reinvest them in promoting and upgrading their channels.


Back in 2021 Telegram announced its plans to share ad income with channel creators when the messenger will be able to cover its main expences.

Telegram Will Only Share Its Ad Revenue in Countries Where Ad Platform Is Newly Introduced

Yesterday, Pavel Durov announced that starting from March of this year, Telegram will share half of its native ads revenue with channel owners. According to the "Durov's Code" channel, citing one of Telegram's advertising partners, payouts will only be made in countries that are new to advertising. For example, Russia is not among them, as the advertising platform in the Russian market was launched earlier.

In the new countries, Telegram will sell ads and reward channel owners only in TON cryptocurrency.

In regions where advertising has been running for a long time, the previous methods of payment for sponsored posts will remain.

Whether the reward system will ever be extended to countries where the advertising platform has already been launched is not reported.

Detailed Statistics On Revenue From Telegram Ads

In the source code of Telegram for macOS, lines of code were noticed that will supposedly be used on the channel's info page for tracking income from Telegram Ads.

Based on the source code, the user can:

• View their advertising revenue statistics in TON cryptocurrency or in the US dollar equivalent.
• Check the current balance of TON available for withdrawal and its equivalent in US dollars.
• View a list of transactions reflecting advertising earnings and money transfers to a crypto wallet, indicating the time and amount.
• Enter the address of their TON wallet and withdraw some or all of the available funds to the wallet.

Monetisation Program for Channel Owners

Starting today, Telegram is introducing a reward system for content creators, allowing Telegram channel owners to receive 50% of the advertising revenue displayed in their channels.

Rewards for Content Creators

• Owners of public channels with 1,000 or more subscribers can receive 50% of the revenue from ads shown in their channel as a reward.

• Rewards can be withdrawn without any fees, or they can be used to pay for ads on Telegram, purchase collectible addresses, or for Premium subscription giveaways.

• Advertising revenue statistics can be tracked in Channel Settings > Statistics > Monetization.

• Reward withdrawals will become available to channel owners on the Fragment platform in the coming weeks.

Cryptocurrency-based Advertising with TON

• Now any user can promote their bot or channel on Telegram using Toncoin - with minimal budgets.

• When creating an ad message, you choose specific channels for placement - this way, you have full control over the context in which your ads will be shown.

• To create your own ad message, simply log in with your account on the Telegram Ad Platform.

• Currently, TON-based ads are not displayed to users in certain countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Palestine, and Israel.

New Telegram Monetization System

A source close to Telegram talked to Durov's Code on the specifics of the new monetization system. Here are the main points of the article:

• The Telegram Advertising Platform now allows purchasing ads only with TON. Payment by fiat currency remains available only to advertising agencies: their personal accounts on the Telegram website still allow this.

• Ads purchased with TON can only be targeted to specific channels. It is impossible to target them to any topic or location. Such ads cannot contain external links, but the entry threshold for buying them is only 20 TON.

• Ads purchased with TON aren't displayed to channel subscribers if the phone numbers linked to their accounts are issued by Russia, Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, or Germany.

• The "Monetization" tab is available in the channel statistics section only if at least half of the channel's subscribers have phone numbers issued outside of Russia, Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, or Germany, and the total number of channel subscribers exceeds 1,000. The location of the channel owner and the phone number of their account do not affect the display of the "Monetization" tab.

• Even if the "Monetization" tab is not displayed on a channel, the channel owner's account will still receive funds from ads purchased with TON and shown to their channel's subscribers. However, they will not be able to withdraw these funds until the conditions from the previous point are met.

FAKE: "Telegram Ads Will Get Images and Carousel Galleries"

Some channels are spreading rumors claiming Telegram is preparing to introduce a new ad format inside the messenger. Particularly, interactive image carousels, ads between posts, and higher character limits are mentioned, along with other numerous additions.

For the source of the claims, the channels reference a Telegram story from Sales Manager at Magnetto․pro, an ad agency that specializes in Telegram Ads.

When asked by @tginfo's editors, a source closely related to Telegram insisted the claims are false, since the messenger isn't working at implementing such a functionality right now.

Recently, Telegram introduced a big refresh to the Ads platform, allowing advertizers to buy Telegram Ads in more countries using TON cryptocurrency. This might indicate the Ad Platform is still under active development — the company continues to explore new ways to monetize on its path to becoming profitable.

The terms of the ad revenue sharing platform have been updated regarding the withdrawal of funds. Channel owners are now required to withdraw their earned funds from their accounts in a timely manner. Ads between channel posts

Now Telegram native ads can be displayed not only at the very bottom of the channel, but also between its posts.

Advertisers were not given the opportunity to switch the way the ads would be displayed: the platform makes this decision itself.

Some users could previously see advertisements in the Telegram Desktop application not at the end of the channel, but in its middle. Previously, this happened due to a bug in the application, but now it has become a feature.

Advertising in Bots Can Now Be Paid With Fiat Currency

Telegram Ads has launched in-bot advertising paid for in euros and rubles, according to OneSpot. Previously, such ads could only be paid for using TON or Telegram Stars.

Important: Unlike payments made in TON, fiat currency payments through Telegram Ads allow advertisers to not only choose specific bots but also to select advertising topics. This is currently only available to advertising agencies.

Description:
• A text block appears at the bottom of the screen while watching a video.
• Maximum text length: 160 characters.

Display Parameters:
• Ads appear 5 seconds after the video starts.
