The pilot of the Laudamotion passenger jet had to abandon take-off after an engine failure as it was due to lift off en-route to Vienna shortly before 8pm. The Airbus A320 jet screeched to a halt and 169 passengers and the six crew members were evacuated down emergency slides (top right), forcing Air Traffic Controllers to halt all departures and arrivals. Anja Kohlfurst said passengers panicked as staff screamed 'evacuate' and 'jump'. She said: 'They were just screaming evacuate and jump and pushing people to the slides. We were just hearing a bang and we saw something that looked like an explosion.โ€™ Passengers were then escorted to from the runway to the safety of the terminal (left, bottom right). The emergency incident delayed flights at the busy airport for three hours causing significant disruption to thousands of other passengers. Dozens of jets were diverted to alternative airports while others were delayed for hours until the runway at Stansted was cleared. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ”ฅโœˆ๏ธ
The only passenger was a life-size test dummy, named Ripley (bottom right) after the lead character in the 'Alien' movies. SpaceX needs to nail the debut of its crew Dragon capsule (top, as seen from Vero Beach in Florida) before putting people on board later this year. This latest, flashiest Dragon is on a fast track to reach the space station on Sunday morning, just 27 hours after liftoff (bottom left). It will spend five days docked to the orbiting outpost, before making a retro-style splashdown in the Atlantic next Friday - all vital training for the next space demo, possibly this summer, when two astronauts strap in. Elon Musk (bottom centre) gave a press conference about the launch this morning. ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ•บ

The standoff, in Penarth Wales, started at 3pm when shocked residents and office workers saw six officers ram the locked front door of a nearby house. Seconds after they enter the building tiles can be seen coming loose from the roof and a man's head emerges. The police officers then flee the house as the man bursts onto the roof and starts pelting tiles onto the street below - while talking on the phone. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ #LMAO

Jackson Kelley, 19, was critically injured on Thursday in a hit-and-run rollover crash in Florida. Kelley was driving along US 41 when a minivan turned in front of his black Audi. The van was attempting to turn into a gas station when it clipped the back of Kelley's vehicle as he swerved into the other lane to avoid hitting the other driver. In the video, the impact sends Kelley's car flying into the air and it flips over at least four times. The car finally comes to a stop outside the Lantern Inn and Suites where shocked witnesses rush over to help the teenager. The driver of the van (inset) immediately drove off after the incident. Officers with the Florida Highway Patrol are still searching for the driver.๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ
Of the 20 Concordes built during the 1960s and 1970s, 17 remain dotted around the world, including seven in Britain, with an interactive map (inset) revealing where they can be found. Thousands of aviation enthusiasts will tomorrow flock to museums and airfields in the UK where the supersonic airliner is on display to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its first ever flight. The Concorde prototype took off on March 2, 1969. It was flown for 27 minutes by test pilot Andre Turcat. Born out of a joint Anglo-French project, Concorde's success was savoured as a moment of intense national pride. Today the aircraft can be found at locations including Brooklands Museum in Surrey (top left), Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, (top right), the Auto & Technik Museum in Sinsheim, Germany, (bottom left) and the Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum in New York (bottom right). โœˆ๏ธ #history
A new analysis on the 4.5 million-year-old partial skeleton of a female hominin has revealed a glimpse into the anatomical details of locomotion in the human ancestor, Ardipithecus ramidus. And, researchers now say this group may have been more adept at upright walking than previously suspected. The remains reveal adaptations in bones from the ankle and big toe that support bipedalism, or the ability to walk on two feet, though the experts say their gait was likely far from perfect. #science #history
