'We will escalate if we have to': Pakistan's chilling warning after it 'SHOOTS DOWN two Indian military jets' following bomb raid as fears grow of conflict between the nuclear-armed rivals.
Pakistan claimed it shot down two Indian Air Force jets after they entered their airspace over the disputed territory of Kashmir. One plane went down on the Indian side of the border (pictured left and inset), and the two pilots of the other plane were captured by Pakistani troops (right). Indian officials confirmed a plane crashed in Budgam district, some 18 miles from Srinagar in Indian-occupied Kashmir, but did not say whether the plane had been shot down by Pakistani forces. Pakistan's foreign ministry said today that they have 'no intention of escalation, but are fully prepared to do so if forced into that paradigm' adding that the planes had been shot down 'with clear warning and in broad daylight.' Pakistan has now shut its airspace to all commercial flights, the Civil Aviation Authority said today, hours after the

President Donald Trump called North Korean leader Kim Jong Un 'my friend' and pointed to the relative prosperity of Vietnam as the two men prepare to break bread for a second time Wednesday. Trump met with Vietnamese leaders and posed in front of a huge bust of revolutionary founder Ho Chi Minh. The country has been on an economic tear since normalizing relations with the U.S. in 1995. It's per capita income is nearly double that of North Korea, with condo towers under construction and growing trade with the U.S. Trump said North Korea would be the same if it would 'denuclearize.'βΊοΈ

Archaeologists have discovered new Roman graffiti (pictured) made centuries ago by soldiers quarrying stone to repair Hadrian's Wall (inset). Carvings at the remains of a quarry at Gelt Woods in Cumbria include a caricature of the commanding officer in charge as well as a phallus which would have been a general good luck symbol to the Romans who created it. The drawings also include an inscription dating to 207AD, a period when Hadrian's Wall had a major repair and renewal programme. Experts from Newcastle University are recording the inscriptions before the soft sandstone in which they were made is eroded. #history
The rotund rodent (pictured) was spotted by two girls in the town of Bensheim, Germany, on Sunday afternoon who then called the emergency services. Nine firefighters and animal rescuers arrived at the scene to prise the chubby rat from the tight squeeze. When rescuers arrived they were greeted by the flabby animal wriggling and squeaking in the manhole cover, trying to free itself from the tiny gap. A firefighter used an animal capture noose to grab hold of the rat as other rescuers lifted up the cover with crowbars. They managed to free the struggling the distressed creature by wedging the manhole cover open to push the rat through. As the cover was pulled up, the rat's dangling legs and tail could been in a video taken by firefighters. Once the rodent was freed, the firefighters dropped it back down the sewer. π #facepalm
