The leopard had frightened off the newborn's mother, but the baby had yet to find its bearings and so, seemingly confused, nuzzled up to the deadly predator in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve in north-east South Africa. Amazingly, the male leopard appears to have been so shocked by the calf's behaviour that he licks it back.
