A high-speed train hit a railroad engine and crashed into a pedestrian overpass at a station in Ankara this morning, killing nine and injuring 47.
Images from the crash site this morning show rescue teams combing through the wreckage for more survivors.
The accident happened at around 6.30am local time (3.30 GMT) as the train was leaving the Turkish capital to the city of Konya about 130 miles to the south.

Christmas market killer 'has fled to Germany in his mother's car': Theory revealed after police cordon off part of Strasbourg, arrest relatives and announce gunman kept jihadist literature.

Police are scouring the French-German border a car belonging to the mother of Strasbourg Christmas market terrorist Cherif Chekatt amid fears he has fled eastwards in her car.

He has a history of arrests in Germany and police searches have now spread across the border.

The German newspaper Bild reported that police were on guard across the German border for a French numberplate on a Ford belonging to Chekatt's mother, in which he could have fled the country.

Swiss police are also said to have increased their security amid fears he was fleeing across Europe.

It comes as heavily armed police swooped on the Neudorf neighbourhood of Strasbourg on Thursday amid a massive manhunt for Christmas market shooter Cherif Chekatt.

Police cars blocked a street as officers carrying rifles and dressed in body armour gathered in the neighbourhood where Chekatt was dropped off by a taxi driver following his bloody rampage on Tuesday.
