7.4 inches of snow fell at Chicago OโHare International Airport during the storm which is the fifth highest total ever recorded during a November snowstorm.
More than 800 flights were canceled at OโHare and Midway airports resulting in long lines as passengers struggled to work out their options.
Downtown Chicago was less badly affected with only an inch or two settling onto the sidewalks.
