WARNING! GRAPHIC CONTENT! Mexico -- A Mexican Air Force plane burst into flames as it crashed near an airport in eastern Mexico, killing all six people on board, officials and witnesses say. The cause of the crash was not immediately known. The accident happened just after 11:30 a.m. local time on Sunday when the plane, a Learjet 45XR, went down in a field near El Lencero Airport in Xalapa, a city in the eastern state of Veracruz. Nearly the entire plane was destroyed or engulfed in flames, except for the cockpit and tail. Video from the scene showed rescue workers as they tried to break into the cockpit to save anyone alive. According to civil aviation sources, six people were on board the plane and no one survived. The identities of those on board were not immediately known. Data from FlightAware showed that the plane flew from Mexico City to Xalapa earlier on Sunday morning, but rescue workers said it was taking off for Tabasco at the time of the crash.

BREAKING! The Federal Aviation Administration has issued an emergency order calling for inspections of Boeing 777s fitted with Pratt and Whitney engines just 24 hours after a mid-flight incident in Denver. In a statement released Sunday evening, FAA Administrator Steve Dickson said: 'After consulting with my team of aviation safety experts about yesterday's engine failure aboard a Boeing 777 airplane in Denver, I have directed them to issue an Emergency Airworthiness Directive that would require immediate or stepped-up inspections of Boeing 777 airplanes equipped with certain Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engines. 'This will likely mean that some airplanes will be removed from service,' he added.
