LOS ANGELES - A gang member and double murderer convicted in the shooting and killing of two teenagers at a party in Los Angeles more than thirty years ago was found to be suitable for parole by the state at a hearing on Wednesday, a hearing that prosecutors weren’t allowed to attend as part of new District Attorney George Gascón's reforms. Howard Elwin Jones has been imprisoned at San Quentin state prison since 1991 for the December 1988 shooting and killing of 18-year-old Chris Baker and another boy at a party in Rowland Heights. Jones was initially sentenced to 45 years to life for the two murders, but after Governor Jerry Brown signed SB 260 into law in 2013, he became eligible for parole much sooner.

The admiral who heads the US Strategic Command — which is responsible for nuclear deterrence — is calling on the nation’s military and civilian leaders to seek new ways to face threats by Russia and China, including the “real possibility” of nuclear conflict. Adm. Charles Richard warned that Moscow and Beijing have “begun to aggressively challenge international norms” in “ways not seen since the height of the Cold War.” “There is a real possibility that a regional crisis with Russia or China could escalate quickly to a conflict involving nuclear weapons, if they perceived a conventional loss would threaten the regime or state,” he wrote in the February issue of Proceedings, the US Naval Institute’s monthly magazine. “Consequently, the U.S. military must shift its principal assumption from ‘nuclear employment is not possible’ to ‘nuclear employment is a very real possibility,’ and act to meet and deter that reality.” Meanwhile, Doomsday Clock stands at 100 seconds to midnight.

The incident took place the same day Dita Von Teese broke her silence over the mounting allegations against her ex-husband insisting she was never abused by him during their seven-year relationship. A teenager from the United Kingdom has woken up from a roughly 11-month long coma, leading his family to weigh how they will explain the coronavirus pandemic to him, according to reports this week.

Joseph Flavill, 19, from Staffordshire, suffered a severe brain injury after being hit by a car on March 1, 2020, about three weeks before the UK entered its first national lockdown.

"He won’t know anything about the pandemic as he’s been asleep for 10 months," his aunt, Sally Flavill Smith, told the Guardian on Tuesday. "A year ago if someone had told me what was going to happen over the last year, I don’t think I would have believed it. I’ve got no idea how Joseph’s going to come to understand what we’ve all been through."

The teenager spent months at Leicester General Hospital before being moved to Adderley Green neurological rehabilitation center in Stoke-on-Trent.

During that time he caught the coronavirus twice and recovered.

Flavill Smith said the family hasn’t yet attempted to explain the scale of the pandemic, but they've tried to let him know over video calls that they're unable to be with him in person due to virus restrictions.

Though he's not fully recovered, the teen has started to move his limbs and is responding to family through blinking and smiling, his family said.
BREAKING! India police launch criminal investigation of Greta Thunberg for conspiracy.

The Delhi Police cyber cell has registered an FIR to investigate an "international conspiracy" to defame the country, a senior police officer said on Thursday.

He said that they have registered an FIR after a Twitter handle had shared a "toolkit" but deleted it later. No names have been mentioned in the FIR, the officer said.

Praveer Ranjan, Special Commissioner of Police said that an FIR had been registered under section 124A (Sedition), 153 (Wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 153 A (Promoting enmity between different groups) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy). He added that it also aims at waging social cultural and economic war against India.

Police said that in the context of Kisan agitation, while the farmers may not even be aware as to what forces are guiding their actions and setting their agenda, there were clear indicators that hostile “deep state actors” were either behind it or would join in to exploit the sentiments.

In the process of monitoring of social media, one document titled toolkit was uploaded through one of the handles on a particular social media platform, said the officer.

A preliminary enquiry has revealed that the toolkit in question appears to have been created by an allegedly pro-Khalistan organisation Poetic Justice Foundation.
Earlier teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg posted a document to Twitter containing tweets that she was told to post and actions she should take regarding the current protests in India. She quickly deleted the tweet.
