Anarchy in the Netherlands. Riots explode across Netherlands over covid restrictions, Dutch leader brands protesters criminals. Dutch rioters who attacked police and destroyed property over the weekend while protesting new coronavirus measures are “criminals,” Prime Minister Mark Rutte said Monday, as law enforcement warned that the violence could last for weeks. The unrest across the Netherlands, some of the worst in decades, had “nothing to do with protest,” Rutte told reporters outside his office in The Hague, news agencies reported. “This is criminal violence and we will treat as such,” he said. Protesters had gathered in defiance of lockdown orders in at least 10 towns and cities Sunday, looting stores and clashing with police after authorities imposed a new nighttime curfew — the first in the Netherlands since World War II.

Biden’s aides are working to “speed up” putting Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Monday. The plan to replace President Andrew Jackson with the Underground Railroad icon stalled under former President Donald Trump, who is an admirer of Jackson. “The Treasury Department is taking steps to resume efforts to put Harriet Tubman on the front of the new $20 notes,” Psaki said at a press briefing. “It’s important that our notes, our money … reflect the history and diversity of our country, and Harriet Tubman’s image gracing the new $20 note would certainly reflect that,” she said. “So we’re exploring ways to speed up that effort.” Tubman was supposed to appear on the bill beginning in 2020, under plans announced in 2016 during President Barack Obama’s final year in office. #facepalm

Sanford, Florida. Black teens get caught burglarizing someone’s SUV and then pull out a gun when they’re confronted. The media and government will try to tell you that “white supremacists” are the biggest threat but every crime statistic says otherwise.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department: The back of a patrol SUV never looked so cute. LVMPD patrol officers rescued and returned these three Bulldog puppies to their owners after an armed robbery. Two of the dog snatchers was arrested.

The House is set to bring the impeachment article against Donald Trump for the Senate trial. But a growing number of Republican senators say they oppose the proceedings.

House Democrats will carry the sole impeachment charge of "incitement of insurrection" across the Capitol late Monday evening, a rare and ceremonial walk to the Senate by the prosecutors who will argue their case. They are hoping that strong Republican denunciations of Trump after the Jan. 6 riot will translate into a conviction and a separate vote to bar Trump from holding office again.

But instead, GOP passions appear to have cooled since the insurrection. Now that Trump's presidency is over, Republican senators who will serve as jurors in the trial are rallying to his legal defense, as they did during his first impeachment trial last year.

"I think the trial is stupid, I think it’s counterproductive," said Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla. He said that "the first chance I get to vote to end this trial, I’ll do it" because he believes it would be bad for the country and further inflame partisan divisions.

Sarasota, FL — “BLACK LIVES DON’T FUCKING MATTER!” Florida women accused of impersonating police officers, livestreaming fake traffic stop. Jymieka McDowell, 28 of Sarasota, and Ryshawnna Poole, 39 of Manatee County, have been arrested and are facing charges of impersonating a law enforcement officer and false imprisonment, both felony charges. This is after Sarasota Police detectives believe the two women stopped a car Sunday morning pretending to be law enforcement officers. Detectives have reason to believe this has happened before and are asking any other potential victims to come forward.
