CALGARY, Alberta/OTTAWA - Joe Biden’s expected move to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline prompted Canada’s main oil-producing province of Alberta on Monday to threaten to seek damages as Ottawa made efforts to save the troubled project. Scrapping the project would threaten Canadian jobs and the U.S.-Canadian relationship as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tries to turn the page on the Donald Trump era, though the idea drew support from environmental groups and progressive U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders. Press Release: PPB and Partners Plan for Inauguration Day
Three Beverly Hills residents have been arrested on federal charges alleging they were part of the mob that stormed into the Capitol earlier this month.

Gina Bisignano, 52, was taken into custody by FBI agents Tuesday morning , and on Monday John Strand, 37, and Simone Gold, 55, were arrested , according to an FBI spokeswoman. All three were taken into custody without incident, according to Laura Eimiller, a spokeswoman for the FBI’s Los Angeles office. They are expected to make court appearances Tuesday afternoon.

Bisignano, the owner of a skincare and eyelash store who has taken a lead role in organizing weekly protests in Beverly Hills in support of President Trump, told the Beverly Hills Courier last week that she entered the Capitol, but said she was experiencing a panic attack and needed to find somewhere safe.

Twelve National Guard troops have been removed from security duties at the Capitol after questionable behavior was detected in their past during security screening, Army Gen. Daniel Hokanson, chief of the National Guard Bureau, said Tuesday. Two from that group had made inappropriate comments or texts about President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration, Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman said. But not all 12 have ties to extremist groups, he said. “We’re not taking any chances,” said Hoffman, who characterized the comments made by the two as inappropriate texts. Of the 12, 10 were identified by the FBI in security screening, Hokanson said. Another was flagged by commanders and the final one was identified by an anonymous tipster. There are about 25,000 National Guard troops in Washington for Wednesday's inauguration.
