Journalist Elijah Schaffer has been banned from Facebook and Instagram on Friday. He reported on Twitter that the two social media platforms, both of which are owned by Facebook, took down his profile and content. Schaffer, who reports for The Blaze, was instrumental in reporting on protests and riots during the summer of 2020. He and his film crew got up close and personal with protests and riots across the country, getting assaulted in Philadelphia, and threatened in Rochester, among other cities. Schaffer has a federal congressional press license, and was essential in delivering information on what was actually happening. He and a cadre of other independent journalists were able to report on the events of the summer in a way that the mainstream media absolutely could not, and would not touch. (Read more.)

BREAKING! Twitter announced Friday that it is permanently suspending President Donald Trump’s personal Twitter account after a careful review. "After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence," The social media giant wrote in a statement on Friday. The statement continues: "In the context of horrific events this week, we made it clear on Wednesday that additional violations of the Twitter Rules would potentially result in this very course of action. Our public interest framework exists to enable the public to hear from elected officials and world leaders directly. It is built on a principle that the people have a right to hold power to account in the open."

Community members are cleaning up after what police are calling a riot in downtown Tigard. This woman says she saw what had happened overnight and wanted to help local business owners. Cleanup underway at the police station too.
