Police arrested a California man after discovering that two of his children had been decapitated in his home, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department took Maurice Taylor Sr., 34, into custody on Friday after firefighters responded to a call about a gas leak at his home and discovered the bodies with "lacerations and stab wounds," the Times reported, citing a statement from the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office said that there was no gas leak after the fire department arrived.

ancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris told the Times that the bodies of a 12-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl had been decapitated, calling the scene "pretty brutal." Police found two other children alive without injuries and sent them to a hospital, according to the Times.
The decapitated bodies were found in separate rooms, and it was unclear how long they had been dead, Lt. Brandon Dean told the newspaper. Police arrested Taylor and his wife, who were both home when law enforcement arrived, without a struggle.
Deputies were initially called to the scene after clients of Taylor, who worked as a personal trainer, grew concerned when they didn't hear from him all week despite scheduled Zoom training sessions.
"We were afraid of carbon monoxide poisoning, or they were all dead from falling asleep," said one client who spoke to the Times on the condition of anonymity and described Taylor as "mellow" and "reliable."
Howard Kern, an attorney who was Taylor's client for about seven years, told the outlet that he called the fire department after he and others attempted to contact the Sheriff's Department to voice their concerns.
Kern said he told firefighters he was concerned about "a possible gas leak." He added that Taylor, whose bail has been set at $2 million, was one of the kindest people he knew.

Meanwhile, in UK, London -- Massive protest in front of Indian high commission in solidarity with Indian Punjab farmers fighting against regulation changes & corporate privatization of vital services. The Met police had issued a reminder to those attending the demonstration in the Aldwych area that strict regulations introduced by the Government remained in place to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus. This meant that anyone gathering for the protest risked enforcement action by officers. 13 people in total were arrested for breach of Covid regulations. Four of those people were subsequently de-arrested after they provided their details to officers and were issued a fine. The other nine remain in custody.

WASHINGTON — In a report out on from openTheBooks/com, there are some big numbers showing the federal government spending billions of dollars. But in some cases, they’re payments that were sent to people who shouldn’t have received them. The organization said last year alone, $175 billion in improper payments were made from programs like Medicaid, Medicare and the IRS’ Earned Income Tax Credit. $871 million went to dead people last year. “These are people who have a federal death certificate with the agency making the payments and the payments continued.” It’s an issue that goes back more than 10 years. Since 2004, 20 major federal agencies have sent out $2.3 trillion in improper payments. (Read more.)
