Los Angeles Police Department's Force Investigation Division is investigating an Officer-Involved #Shooting that occurred in Southeast Division. On October 14, 2020, around 9:50 p.m., LAPD Southeast Division patrol officers were in the area of 111th Street and Figueroa Street. They saw a man, later identified as 23-year-old Kevin Carr, standing in a parking lot of a gas station, pointing a handgun at people seated in a vehicle. The officers pulled their patrol car into the parking lot, exited, and told Carr to put the handgun down. Carr did not follow the officers' directions, resulting in an officer-involved shooting. Carr was struck by gunfire and fell to the ground. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and determined Carr had died at the scene. (Read the full story.)

Mike Tyson did not score a knockout against Roy Jones Jr. on Saturday night, but he looked formidable in his return to the boxing ring at the age of 54. Tyson looked aggressive from the outset and stalked Jones, 51, through most of their eight-round exhibition fight at Staples Center. But Jones remained on his feet when the final bell rang โ€” and three former WBC champions scored the bout a draw. USA TODAY Sports scored the fight 78-74 for Tyson. "I'm glad I got this under my belt," said Tyson, who also said he was good with the draw "because I entertained the crowd." Here's the round-by-round recap and scoring from USA TODAY Sports' Josh Peter.
Meanwhile, in Portland. Clash between POYB and Antifa. Someone in a pick up truck drove by and threw a smoke grenade.
An alleged drunk driver slammed into the famed arch at Washington Square Park early Sunday โ€” injuring an NYPD officer who was parked under the landmark, law enforcement sources said. Both the officer and the driver suffered non-life-threatening head injuries in the dramatic crash, sources said. The officerโ€™s back and neck were also hurt, sources said. The driver was left unharmed enough to stumble from his wreck, blood dripping from his nose, and shout โ€œSuck my dโ€”โ€ at a New York Post photographer. But while the driverโ€™s Nissan Maxima was totaled, the officerโ€™s vehicle โ€” a subcompact โ€œSmart Carโ€ โ€” was relatively unscathed. And the Nineteenth Century marble arch was undamaged. The crash happened on the north end of the Greenwich Village park just before 2 a.m.
