WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT! Bakersfield police depertment. Officer Involved #Shooting Update - 700 block E. 18th Street, October 13, 2020. We have released a community debriefing regarding an officer involved shooting which occurred on October 13, 2020. The debriefing contains actual footage of the shooting and a summation of information known to officers at the time of the use of force. Our commitment to community trust requires openness and transparency in all matters, especially the use of deadly force by a police officer. While this investigation has moved to a point where it is practical to release this information, the matter is still under review.

The involved officers remain on modified duty pending a determination by the Chief of Police as to the appropriateness of their actions under state law and department policy. The officers involved in the shooting are identified as Detective Randy Petris, Senior Officer John Weyer and Officer Nghia Duong. Detective Petris has been an officer with the department for approximately eight years. Senior Officer Weyer has been an officer for approximately ten years. Officer Duong has been an officer for ten months. All three officers were wearing body camera devices. Chief of Police Greg Terry said, “The public has a legitimate interest in obtaining timely and accurate information about police shootings, and the Bakersfield Police Department is committed to making that information available. We will release the body worn camera footage of officers in critical incidents as soon as it is possible to do so without compromising an investigation. This is our commitment to accountability and professionalism"

The suspect complied initially, then turned on officers and reached for a hand gun in his waistband.

Milwaukee police are investigating three separate shooting incidents that happened Wednesday night, Oct. 28 and Thursday morning, Oct. 29. Three people died and one person was injured as a result of the shootings.
The first shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. near 40th and Clarke. Police say an 18-year-old Milwaukee man was located deceased at that location with numerous gunshot wounds. This investigation is still being actively investigated.
The second shooting happened shortly before 9 p.m. near 22nd and Clarke. Police say an 18-year-old Milwaukee man was shot while driving a car in that area. The victim was taken to a local hospital but died as a result of his injuries. This investigation is still being actively investigated.
The third shooting happened around 12:45 a.m. near 12th and National. Police say a 42-year-old man was located deceased at that location with gunshot wounds. A 22-year-old man was also struck by gunfire and taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Philadelphia officials have said they will release the police body camera footage and the 911 tapes in connection with the officer-involved shooting of Walter Wallace Jr., an armed Black man reportedly with a mental health history, following three nights of unrest in the city and elsewhere in the country. Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw pledged Wednesday that her office would release the video and audio footage “in the near future,” but will first meet with Wallace Jr.’s family “to ensure they get an opportunity to view the materials first.” The city’s top cop announced the plan during a Wednesday afternoon press conference with Mayor Jim Kenney and other city officials to go over any updates in the case and detail the impacts of Philadelphia’s second night of riots and looting. An estimated 1,000 people took to the streets on Tuesday night into Wednesday, ransacking big-name stores, such as Walmart and Foot Locker. During the course of the night, 81 people were arrested, 23 police officers were injured and at least 14 people were shot – including two who suffered fatal injuries, officials said. Also on Tuesday into Wednesday, nine PPD vehicles were damaged and the city reported nine ATM explosions, city officials said. Since the unrest began following Wallace Jr.’s death, police made 172 felony and misdemeanor arrests and reported damage to 17 PPD vehicles. A total of 53 police officers were injured, including a sergeant who was “intentionally run over” by a pick-up truck driver, Outlaw previously said. All but one of the injured officers had been released from the hospital as of Wednesday afternoon. Kenney instituted a citywide curfew that began on Wednesday at 9 p.m. and extended through 6 a.m. Thursday. He also said the National Guard would be deployed and was expected to arrive in the city on Friday and Saturday.
