Three Maryland police officers were "ambushed" and shot while responding to a call Sunday evening. Prince George’s County police were responding to a reported home invasion around 6:30 p.m. in Hyattsville, a city about 32 miles southwest of Baltimore, Interim Police Chief Hector Velez said. “Within minutes they arrived at the scene, and within seconds they came under gunfire,” Velez told reporters outside Prince George’s Hospital Center. “They were ambushed.”Officers returned gunfire and took two men into custody unharmed, police said. The injured officers were expected to recover. The officers shot in the chest and the back were saved by their bullet-proof vests, Velez said. He also said officers provided selfcare before being rushed to a hospital for treatment. One officer needed surgery as of Sunday night. Velez said the three officers were in “good spirits” and hoped to return to work soon.
The National Guard has been deployed to Kenosha, Wis., after a night of civil unrest following the shooting of a Black man by police over the weekend, the latest incident to unleash widespread anger over policing practices. Gov. Tony Evers said the 125 Guard members would be tasked with supporting local law enforcement in Kenosha by helping to "protect critical infrastructure and assist in maintaining public safety and the ability of individuals to peacefully protest." On Sunday night, protesters took to the streets after the police shooting of Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old Black man shot in the back. Officers initially responded to reports of a domestic dispute, the Wisconsin Department of Justice said. During riots that mirrored similar unrest in other cities, a car dealership lot was set ablaze, buildings were vandalized and one officer was reportedly hit with a brick. The county courthouse and an administrative building were closed Monday due to vandalism.

Forwarded from Interesting Firearms
This Ingraham M-6 by Police Ordnance looks a bit like a Thompson... that was the point. Of all the lookalikes, these were among the earliest, and were the best quality - some would say better than the Thompson itself.

The M-6 was the sixth firearm designed by Gordon Ingraham, an open-bolt blowback, and dates back to 1949. Chambered in 45acp, it featured a "progressive" select-fire trigger pack (a half pull for a single shot, full pull for automatic fire).

The M-6 was designed to serve as a police and civilian SMG with a similar feel to a Thompson (familiar to returning US soldiers) but significantly less heavy, less expensive to produce, and less difficult to service. Unfortunately, a steady supply of WWII surplus would knock the M-6 off the law enforcement and civilian market in the US, and despite some foreign sales, the M-6 was discontinued.

Gordon Ingraham left Police Ordnance, and some 20 years later went on to market his 10th (& 11th) firearm designs, the Military Arms Corp M-10 and M-11 SMGs.
