โ ๏ธ WANTED! A vandal was caught on video defacing a memorial to honor fallen Los Angeles police officers during a Black Lives Matter protest over the weekend, authorities said Monday. The Los Angeles Police Department retweeted footage of a large gathering in front of the #LAPD downtown headquarters Saturday afternoon. As the video pans out, a vandal in a black hooded sweater is seen spray-painting glass cases displaying the badges of officers who have died in the line of duty. The department also tweeted photos of "FTP," an acronym meant to disparage police officers, spray-painted on the building's wall. The officers memorialized in these cases made the ultimate sacrifice for their city. Now we need your help finding those responsible for defacing our tribute to their sacrifice. Anyone with info is urged to call LAPD Central Detectives at 213-833-3750 or http://lacrimestoppers.org

In Tempe, AZ, the demonstration began peacefully at about 5pm as roughly 200 people gathered in Tempe Beach Park to show support for the Black Lives Matter movement. Protesters then began marching through the streets and ultimately blocked traffic on Scottsdale Road, prompting Tempe Police to declare the gathering unlawful. After the crowd ignored orders to disperse, police deployed tear gas at the hyenas on Monday night, who responded by launching projectiles and shouting profanities as they moved toward a line of officers on bicycles. A Tempe police spokesperson declined to comment specifically about the events, saying: 'This is a fluid and active scene. We will continue to monitor the situation, and address issues if and when needed. At this time, no further information is available.'

There has been a reduction in homicides and shooting incidents in Chicago since the city's police force launched two units aimed at specifically combating gun violence and ensuring protests. Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said 'tenuous progress' has been made in the department's efforts to stem gun violence. There were three homicides over the weekend compared to 12 and eight the previous two weekends and 17 over the July Fourth weekend, Brown said at a news conference. That compares to 41 the previous weekend, 50 the weekend before that and 87 during the long Independence Day weekend. On Monday morning, a 10-month-old baby also ended up in critical condition after being shot on the Bishop Ford Expressway on the South Side. The girl was shot while in the back seat of a northbound car on I-94 at 115th Street, according to Illinois State Police. The driver heard a single gunshot at 11:15 a.m., and then noticed the infant was injured.
