Luxury beachside homes are teetering on the edge of a cliff face on the Australian New South Wales central coast as wild weather batters the state. As many as 66 homes at Wamberal, are 'at risk' from the erosion after savage weather created a huge swell on the shore. Residents from up to 30 houses on one street, Ocean View Drive, were advised to evacuate after consulting with structural engineers. Chris Rogers, who lives on Ocean View Drive, said at least 40 homes have had their frontage completely destroyed and the State Emergency Service had cut off power, water and gas on the street.
HOUSTON -- A Harris County Constable's Office Precinct 5 deputy has died of COVID-19 after a two-month battle with the virus, authorities said Sunday. The wife of Deputy Mark Brown, 53, said he died around 11 p.m. Saturday at their home after spending about two months in intensive care at a hospital. He was allowed to return home Friday, she said. She detailed how the virus had impacted their family, including herself and their oldest son โ all of whom tested positive. She said the three of them began feeling unwell in mid-May. Brown was hospitalized twice, the second time after his symptoms took a turn for the worst. Brown, a Houston native, worked 23 years as a law enforcement officer in Hempstead and for Spring Branch ISD. He joined the constable's office in 2017 and was most recently an investigative deputy in the Special Operations Division. #RIP

LAUDERHILL, Florida -- A 23-year veteran of the Lauderhill Police Department died Sunday of complications related to COVID-19. Officer Corey Pendergrass, 51, of Lauderhill, died at Plantation General Hospital. No further information was available about his death. โHe was one of the great ones. He was one of the most humble officers on the planet and was loved by everyone. Itโs taken a huge toll on the entire department, including the chief,โ said spokesman Lt. Michael Santiago. Pendergrass was part of a new forensic crime unit in 2014 that used new technology to solve crimes, contributing to a substantial increase in crimes being solved. Pendergrass was looking forward to seeing his son graduate from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University later this year, family members said. Corey Jr., 21, plans to follow in his fatherโs footsteps to become a police officer after college, his sister said. #RIP
