A protester in Portland was arrested after police say he used a “wrist rocket” to launch a metal ball that struck a city medic in the chest who was working with police at the scene. Jesse Bates, 37, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault among other charges. Police said Bates was nabbed in possession of a crowbar, knife, gas mask, pyrotechnics and slingshots, according to the report. The Portland Fire & Rescue employee suffered bruising, the report said. The alleged incident occurred at about 2 p.m. OregonLive reported that police were forced to chase the man and eventually employed less-than-lethal force to stop him. Last week Portland’s Deputy Police Chief, Chris Davis, said an “agitator corps” of violent protesters are responsible for vandalism and chaos in the city.

A Colorado community rallied around a local drive-through coffee shop this week after thieves stole "Thin Blue Line” flags from the premise and vandalized the building, according to reports. The shop, Coffee Cabin, is located in Parker, Colo. Its owner, Wesley Crespi, is known in the community for support of local law enforcement – a position he acknowledges puts him at odds with the current climate in the U.S. Until Friday, the coffee joint on the corner of Parker Road and Ponderosa Drive was lined with Thin Blue Line and U.S. flags. On that day, Crespi said he received a call notifying him that someone had stolen the Thin Blue Line flags and vandalized the building. Crespi said he was angered and shocked by the ordeal. But since then, the community has rallied to his support, donating new flags, and hundreds of dollars to his establishment. Crespi told Fox 31 he plans to use that money to give any veteran or person in uniform a free drink.

One officer shot and killed, another wounded during Washington traffic stop. A person suspected of killing a Washington state police officer and injuring another after a traffic stop turned into a deadly foot chase Monday night was arrested "without incident,” police said. The deadly encounter took place around 9:40 p.m. in Bothell, outside of Seattle. The suspect led police on a brief pursuit following the attempted traffic stop, after which he got out of the vehicle, fled on foot and opened fire at two officers, killing one at the scene.

The Allentown Police Department on Monday released nearly nine minutes of surveillance footage depicting an incident in which its officers subdued a man outside a local hospital Saturday evening in the eastern Pennsylvania city. The video was posted on the police department’s website as the city tries to quickly investigate the encounter, 23 seconds of which were caught on a video posted on social media Saturday. That footage showed the officer kneeling on the man, in a hold similar to the one that killed George Floyd when he was arrested by Minneapolis police. (Read the Full Story.)

McAllen, Texas, Police Chief Victor Rodriguez told “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday that his “community is hurting” following the ambush killing of two police officers over the weekend. The slain McAllen officers were identified as Edelmiro Garza, 45, and Ismael Chavez, 39. The gunman killed himself after engaging in a shootout with other responding officers, The Monitor of McAllen, Texas, reported. “We are in shock,” Rodriguez said. “Our department is weakened for the moment, but we will manage and we will continue the mission that is policing in our city and keeping our city safe.” Rodriguez explained that the two officers were killed in a “domestic disturbance call turned violent against police officers.”
