Police in Canada are investigating a road rage incident in which a woman is seen violently swinging a small dog by its leash. A woman from Canada was caught on camera swinging a puppy on its leash in a senseless road rage attack. Cellphone video shows two women fighting outside of their cars in Dartmouth, Halifax, when of them snatches the pet from another driver and begins hurling it round. The attack was so sudden and swift there was nothing the woman could do to protect her dog.
A third Minneapolis cop charged in George Floyd's death has been released from jail after posting bail. Tou Thao, 34, left Hennepin County jail late on Saturday morning. He was being held in lieu of $750,000 before his release. Thao is one of three former Minneapolis police officers charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter. The cops were fired and arrested after the death of Mr Floyd, 46. Their colleague Derek Chauvin knelt on Mr Floyd's neck for almost nine minutes on May 25. Officers J. Alexander Kueng, 26, and Thomas Lane, 37, were released on their $750,000 bonds last month.
An Ohio police officer killed in the line of duty on the Fourth of July had one last message for his loved ones: “Tell my family I loved them.” Jayme Dia, the wife of Toledo officer Anthony Dia, said he made the remark into his radio after being struck by gunfire outside of a Home Depot store early Saturday. he 26-year-old cop was responding to a call about an intoxicated man in the store's parking lot and when he "approached the male to check his safety,” that individual turned around and fired a single bullet from a handgun, police say, citing witnesses. “The last thing he said over the radio was, ‘Tell my family I love them,’” she added. “He lived for his family, and he loved, just loved, being a police officer.” Dia had joined the department in 2018 and has become its 31st officer to be killed in the line of duty. #RIP

Shootings soar 205 percent in NYC after NYPD disbands anti-crime unit
Two men were injured, one critically, after a lightning strike at Clearwater Beach in Florida on Sunday afternoon. The Clearwater Fire and Rescue Department said the incident happened around 2:15 p.m. on the north part of Clearwater Beach, about halfway between the waterline and dunes. "Both were trying to leave the beach as the weather deteriorated when the strike occurred," the Clearwater Police Department tweeted. A 37-year-old man was unconscious and not breathing when he was approached by a Clearwater police officer who began CPR until the lifeguard arrived and took over medical treatment. Rescue crews then arrived and began treating the 37-year-old victim, who was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. The second victim, a 43-year-old man, was a few feet away from the first victim when the lightning strike happened. He was also taken to an area hospital and was listed in stable condition.
A federal judge ordered the shutdown of the Dakota Access Pipeline and that it be emptied, while a lengthy environmental review is conducted. The pipeline must be emptied by August 5, the court ordered Monday, after finding that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers violated “the National Environmental Policy Act when it granted an easement” for the pipeline’s construction and operation of crude-oil running beneath Lake Oahe.U.S. District Judge James Boasberg wrote in a 24-page order that he was “mindful of the disruption such a shutdown will cause,” but said he had concluded that it was necessary. The decision comes after the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe requested the pipeline be shut down for fear of environmental harm. The $3.8 billion, 1,172-mile underground pipeline sparked months of protests, sometimes violent, during its construction near the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation that straddles the North Dakota-South Dakota border.

CHARLESTON, South Carolina -- A Charleston County Sheriff's deputy remains in critical condition after he was struck while assisting a tow truck driver with a disabled vehicle on July 1. Deputy Mike Costanzo stopped on Interstate 526 westbound on the Don Holt Bridge just before 10 a.m. to assist a tow truck driver and a disabled motorist when a westbound vehicle struck the deputy's marked patrol vehicle, which then struck other vehicles on scene, according to a news release. The impact of the crash left Costanzo with critical injuries and caused tow truck driver William Ellis to go over the bridge before his body was found a day later in the water near Daniel Island. Costanzo had worked for the Charleston County Sheriff's Office between 1994 and 2006, then returned in April 2017. He has served as a much-loved SRO at Sullivan’s Island Elementary during the school year and was assigned to the Marine Patrol Unit this summer. 🙏🏼
