A police officer and father of two from Tulsa, Okla. has succumbed to his wounds after being shot early Monday morning during a routine traffic stop. The department announced Sgt. Craig Johnson’s death. Johnson is survived by his wife, two young children and his parents. “He also leaves behind a bunch of brothers and sisters," Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin said, referring to Johnson's fellow officers. Officer Aurash Zarkeshan, who was also shot during the incident, had reportedly been out on patrol for less than six weeks. His wounds have not become fatal. Police arrested the suspect and identified him as David Anthony Ware, 32. His alleged accomplice, Matt Hall, 29, was also taken into custody. #RIP
At least 31 people were arrested at the CHOP zone Wednesday which has seen the two deadly shootings and crime rise by more than 500 per cent in just over three weeks. Pictures show trash and debris being collected by city workers with tents and protest signs taken down. Police said they found 'recovered improvised spike strips—designed to puncture vehicle tires—in the area of the CHOP'. The 31 arrests were for failure to disperse, obstruction, assault, and unlawful weapon possession, they added.

Mississippi Governor Backs the Vilified Armed Couple; Husband Speaks Out After the Incident. The armed couple who became the scorn of the nation after ordering protesters out of their compound has received support from the Mississippi governor. Governor Tate Reeves released a statement on Facebook in solidary with the couple saying they were within their rights to act the way they did. Reeves said although the protesters possibly had peaceful intentions, the country has become accustomed to violence from protesters.

The Los Angeles City Council voted today to cut the LAPD Headquarters budget by $150 million. The only opposing votes came from Councilmen John Lee, a former Republican-turned-independent, and Joe Buscaino, a Democrat and former police officer. Those in favor of cutting the police budget are all Democrats. The Budget and Finance Committee had approved the cuts earlier this week. #facepalm
