New Jersey -- A pair of fishermen, an EMT and two Atlantic City police officers rescued an unconscious man early Saturday from a burning vehicle involved a two-car crash along Route 30. The fishermen — Jeramie Cassilis and Jeffrey Bordley — managed to cut the 29-year-old driver’s seat belt and attempted to remove the man from the car, but the flames forced them to back away as officers raced to the scene of the crash, Atlantic City police said Sunday. When police arrived, officers Chris Massey and Michael Kedziora got help from EMT Matthew Brown and quickly pulled the driver from the car. Police said the actions of the fishermen were “instrumental” in the rescue of the Atlantic City man, who was hospitalized with serious injuries. The vehicle was then struck by another another car and caught fire. The driver of the second vehicle, a 65-year-old Atlantic City man was also seriously injured, officials said.

Florida police on Monday said they arrested a suspect in the shooting death of an off-duty Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commissioner officer. Eliceo Hernandez, 20, was arrested and charged with manslaughter, according to the Hendry County Sheriff's Office. Deputies responded to reports of a shooting early Sunday morning in a neighborhood in LaBelle – about 55 miles northeast of Cape Coral – and found Julian Keen Jr., 30, fatally shot, officials said. Deputies had taken three people into custody for questioning by Sunday afternoon. Investigators said they were able to determine through interviews that Keen and another man had witnessed a reckless driver, and Keen followed the driver in his truck. After both Keen and Hernandez stopped, officials said Keen confronted Hernandez and was later shot. Hernandez was being held on a $500,000 bond. It wasn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney who could speak on his behalf.
Two missing female George Floyd protesters from Florida were found dead by police who have charged a 49-year-old man with killing them. Tallahassee police found the bodies of Oluwatoyin Salau, 19, and Victoria Sims, 75, on Saturday in the vicinity of the home of Aaron Glee. Glee was taken into custody in connection with their deaths, police said on Facebook Monday, adding that there was no further information to release "at this time." Salau and Sims met after recent Black Lives Matters protests seeking justice after the death of Floyd, a black man who died in police custody in Minneapolis, the Tallahassee Democrat reported. Salau spoke at the protests and carried signs pleading for justice in the wake of black lives lost, the paper reported. She was last seen on June 6. That afternoon she tweeted that a man molested her that morning after offering to give her a ride back to a church where she had "refuged" for a couple of days “to escape unjust living conditions.”
