The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), along with other law enforcement officials in Minneapolis, released photos Tuesday of several people suspected of being involved in arson attacks during protests in the wake of George Floyd's death. Authorities are asking for help in identifying the individuals possibly involved in vandalism, looting and arson. “Progress has been steady in the Minneapolis fire investigations, and we are at a point where we need help identifying people,” Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jeff Reed, of the ATF's St. Paul Field Division, said in a statement. The ATF has said it is working with the FBI, the St. Paul Police Department, the Minneapolis Police Department and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal Division to investigate fires throughout the Twin Cities. The bureau urges anyone with information related to looting or arson to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigations.

A Springfield police officer was seriously injured after he was intentionally struck in front of police headquarters Tuesday morning. Officers were notified of a white male at the front entrance of the Springfield Police Headquarters at 321 East Chestnut Expressway, causing a disturbance and urinating on the front door. After the man was asked to leave, he then got into a white SUV, drove away, then circled back through the parking lot, heading toward the front entrance. He then accelerated directly toward Officer Mark Priebe, who was standing in front of the building. Priebe attempted to get out of the way, but the driver intentionally struck the officer, trapping him under the vehicle. A second officer yelled at the driver to stop and get out of the vehicle, the officer fired shots striking the suspect and stopping the vehicle. Both Priebe, a 21-year veteran of the Springfield Police Department, and the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Jon Tyler Franklin Routh, were transported to a local hospital.

⚠️ #WANTED! The #FBI and Boston authorities are on the hunt Wednesday for two men seen posing in front of a burned-out police vehicle. The unidentified men, the FBI’s Boston Division says, “may have information relevant to the ongoing investigation into the vandalism and arson of a Boston Police Department cruiser” on May 31. That night, “two Boston police officers responded to a call for assistance and parked their vehicle in the area of the Beantown Pub near Suffolk University,” according to the FBI. “Shortly thereafter, several individuals vandalized the cruiser, breaking its windows, and eventually setting it on fire,” it added. Investigators described both men as being around 6 feet tall with medium builds. One of them was last seen wearing a white hoodie and red bandana, while the other was wearing a black T-shirt and shorts.

Boston police launched an investigation Wednesday after the city’s Christopher Columbus statue was beheaded overnight. Images taken at Christopher Columbus Park this morning show the head of the monument lying on the ground next to its base, surrounded by crime scene tape. The toppling comes just hours after protesters in Richmond, Va., pulled down a Columbus statue there, set it on fire and then threw it into a lake.In that incident -- which reportedly was preceded by a peaceful protest for indigenous people -- the statue’s base was also spray painted and someone left a cardboard sign on top of it that read “Columbus represents genocide.” The beheading of the Columbus statue in Boston is not the first time it has been vandalized.
