New York City police arrested more than 40 demonstrators Thursday evening after violent protests that followed the death of a man in police custody in Minnesota earlier in the week, police said. Demonstrators turned out to protest the death of George Floyd, who died after an encounter with Minneapolis police on Monday. Video of the incident went viral and has led to protests around the U.S. -- including incidents of looting in Minneapolis and St. Paul. The #NYPD told Fox News that multiple officers sustained injuries, including one who was struck in the head with a garbage can and another who was punched in the face. Some protesters spit at officers -- despite mandates to wear a mask in public and practice social distancing in the city hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic. Another protestor attempted to remove an officer's gun from its holster, a police spokesperson told Fox News.

Rioters angered by the death of George Floyd gained access to a Minneapolis police precinct on Thursday, the third straight night of violent protests spreading beyond the city. Livestream video showed the scumbags entering the building, where fire alarms blared and sprinklers ran as blazes were set. At one point, a band playing in a parking lot across from the police’s 3rd Precinct, the focus of the protests, broke into a punk version of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song.” Nearby, demonstrators carried clothing mannequins from a looted Target and threw them onto a burning car. Later, a building fire erupted nearby. “Please stay home. Please do not come here to protest. Please keep the focus on George Floyd, on advancing our movement and on preventing this from ever happening again,” tweeted St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter, who is black.

Police in Denver rushed to the state Capitol on Thursday evening on reports of shots fired during a police accountability protest that turned violent. The protest stretched for more than four hours as crowds also continued to block traffic not just around downtown Denver but also on I-25 and then returned to the state Capitol where protesters smashed the windows of a Colorado State Patrol cruiser.

A police officer is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Ogden, Utah Thursday afternoon. The deadly incident took place when officers responded to a call in the 300 block of Jackson Avenue and 3rd Street. The call was from a woman who told dispatchers her husband threatened to kill her. The officer, only a 15-month veteran of the force, was fatally shot in an exchange of gunfire. A parole officer on scene was also struck by non-fatal gunfire. The suspect was found dead in the home—it was unclear if the suspect killed himself or was fatally wounded by the officer. The Ogden Police Chief said, “Our hearts are broken. We’ve lost one of our own. […] Let us not forget such fine men and women who offer themselves up for this fine and noble calling.” The names of those involved were not released. #RIP

Minnesota State Patrol arrested a CNN crew while officers were clearing the streets of a Minneapolis neighbourhood where rioting occurred early on Friday morning in response to the death of George Floyd, a black man killed by police earlier this week. The reason given to one member of the crew by the armed police was that the team was not moving as requested by officers, however, video showed that reporter Omar Jimenez clearly identified himself and aimed to follow the instructions given.

One Dead After Shots Fired During Local News Station’s Live Broadcast of Detroit Riot. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. Their name has not yet been released to the public. “A DPD spokesperson says a grey Dodge Durango pulled up and fired into the crowd, striking a 19-year-old man.
