In Las Vegas, conservative radio host Wayne Allyn Root organized an anti-lockdown protest that started on Las Vegas Boulevard. The event, 'Open Nevada, Unleash Prosperity, Save America,' was referred to as 'America's First Interactive Drive-Thru Protest Caravan' as protestors drove some 11 miles down the Las Vegas Strip to fight stay-at-home orders. Root told Breitbart that the Las Vegas protest was 'the safest protest in America,' adding that protestors adhered to mandated social distancing rules by staying inside their cars. However, photos showed protestors outside without masks or gloves as they gathered in a parking lot before the rally began. 'We support the economy. We support capitalism. We support Trump,' he said.

Thousands of people in Huntington Beach seemingly ignore social distancing guidelines during the coronavirus outbreak. Pictures taken in Huntington Beach, an Orange County city, on Friday show crowds gathering to enjoy as the state roasted in a spring heat wave. Dozens of locations reached 90 degrees Fahrenheit or higher well before noon, the National Weather Service said, and officials are bracing for even larger crowds this weekend. Hungtingon Beach Officer Angela Bennett told ABC7 : 'We're trying to ask people to maybe put themselves in our residents' position and think about the fact that our residents also have limited parking'.

There were 4.4 million new claims for unemployment benefits filed last week, according to the latest Labor Department figures released on Friday. It adds to the nearly 22 million people who applied for unemployment aid in the previous four weeks. About one in six American workers have now lost their jobs since mid-March, by far the largest streak of US job losses on record.

Alabama -- A Birmingham police officer was injured, and a suspect was killed in a shooting this morning at a restaurant in the city’s northside. The ordeal began at about 8:20 a.m. when the officer went to get something to eat at Ruth’s Cafe at 4012 24th Street North. When the officer arrived, they were asked by employees to make a customer who refused to pay leave the property. Workers told police the suspect refused to pay for his meal at the restaurant. and asked the officer to have the suspect, who remained in his vehicle outside the cafe, to leave. As the officer approached the customer’s vehicle, the customer immediately opened fire. Officers returned fire. Police Friday afternoon identified the wounded officer a Det. Mikiel Smith, 47. He has been on the force for 19 years and is assigned to the Investigation Bureau. Smith was shot once or twice in the right arm or right hand, the chief said, and is in good condition. The suspect, shot in the head, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

In a show of national solidarity, the Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, and the Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds, will conduct a series of multi-city flyovers over the next two weeks. America Strong is a collaborative salute from the Navy and Air Force to recognize healthcare workers, first responders, and other essential personnel while standing in solidarity with all Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic. The two demonstration teams will fly over areas of the country hardest hit by COVID-19, starting next week as both joint and individual team flights occurring every one-to-two days until mid-May.

Protesters shouted 'I want my life back' and held up signs with slogans such as 'Protect constitutional rights', 'Freedom isn't everything but without freedom, everything is nothing', and 'Daddy, what is a kiss?'German police said on Twitter they had arrested more than 100 people. Some protesters tried to keep distance from each other, sitting on the ground and wearing masks, but others clustered together. Germany's strict curbs on public activity to slow the transmission of coronavirus were imposed in its lockdown on March 17.
