The Los Angeles Police Department Wilshire Theft Detectives are reminding citizens about the presence of parcel thefts during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. On Saturday April 11, 2020, a delivery truck making deliveries in the Melrose district is followed…
During subsequent interviews with delivery personnel it was discovered that due to the COVID-19 outbreak, drivers have been instructed not to touch door knobs, gate latches or any surface the could be frequently touched by another person. The packages are placed near the side walk making it easier for the suspects to approach and remove the package.

LAPD Detectives would like to remind employees of delivery companies to be aware of their surroundings. If one thinks they’re being followed, divert your route to confirm a vehicle is indeed following the delivery truck then notify the Police.

For community members, LAPD Detectives encourage alternate delivery locations that are more secure (such as picking up the package from the post office), delivering to your place of employment or installing a secure delivery box that can secure the delivered package.

Anyone with information is urged to call Wilshire Theft Detective Edward Griffin at 213-922-8251. Police in New Jersey say they found 17 bodies piled up in a tiny morgue inside a nursing home after receiving an anonymous tip that a corpse was being kept in a shed outside the facility. The grim discovery was made Monday at the Andover Subacute and Rehabilitation Center I and II in Sussex County, according to the New York Times. Like other nursing homes in the state, the complex has been ravaged by the coronavirus, as 26 of the 68 people who have recently died there in its two buildings reportedly tested positive for the sickness. “They were just overwhelmed by the amount of people who were expiring,” Andover Police Chief Eric Danielson said.

Did you have to cancel your child’s birthday party because of COVID-19? Are they struggling to understand why? Coconut Creek police say they want to help. Instead of canceling the party, make it a birthday quarantine parade. You already have an RSVP: the Coconut Creek Police Department’s Birthday Responders team. “Our police departments and first responders are gonna drive by your house — lights, sirens, loud speakers — and even dropping a little goodie bag at the end of the driveway to celebrate your child’s birthday,” said Joshua Rydell, vice mayor fo the Broward city. 🥳
