BREAKING NEWS! Hundreds of South Beach spring breakers fled for safety Saturday night in Miami Beach, Fla., after hearing gunfire, according to reports. An armed suspect was later taken to a hospital after the police-involved shooting on Ocean Drive, where officers had come to clear beach crowds to help mitigate the spread of coronavirus. The department confirmed the shooting in a Twitter post. "An MBPD Officer was flagged down regarding a male with a firearm inside an establishment on Ocean Drive. Contact was made with an armed male resulting in Officers discharging their firearms," the message said. Earlier in the day, the department announced it would be removing crowds from the area. It's unclear if the shooting was related to those efforts.
Health officials’ advice on “social distancing” amid the coronavirus outbreak apparently never reached the revelers on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. So on Saturday night the police delivered the message in person. Video posted on social media showed New Orleans police vehicles moving into the city’s popular French Quarter entertainment zone, intent on ending the night’s partying – one day after Louisiana’s governor banned gatherings of 250 people or more. Earlier Saturday, Mayor LaToya Cantrell tweeted a photo of police clearing another large group at a bar – and noted that the city had just recorded its first coronavirus fatality. The patient was 58 years old, FOX 8 of New Orleans reported. “This is irresponsible, potential endangering the entire community,” the mayor wrote of the defiance of the governor’s ban.

Two Tennessee brothers who bought 17,700 bottles of hand sanitizer and sold some of them for as much as $70 each to profit off the coronavirus outbreak say they have received death threats after being shamed on social media. Matt and Noah Colvin of Hixson, Tenneseee, drove 1,300 miles across the state and neighboring Kentucky earlier this month after the first coronavirus death was reported in the United States. Seeing a lucrative business opportunity, they filled a U-Haul truck with thousands of bottles of hand sanitizer and thousands of packs of antibacterial wipes that they ‘cleaned out’ from various Dollar Tree, Walmart, Staples and Home Depot locations. #facepalm
