Body-worn video footage shows the moment police officers had to Taser a man after he threatened them with a knife at his home in Top Valley, UK. Police explained: ‘Officers attended 53-year-old Glen Burton’s home on Thorpe Close last Monday (24 February 2020) to arrest him. ‘Despite our officers clearly explaining to Burton why they were there, he reacted angrily and initially resisted their attempts to arrest him. ‘Burton was arrested by the officers who were eventually able to calm him down and he apologised for his behaviour, he asked the officers if he could get dressed in his kitchen which they agreed to.’ All of a sudden Burton grabbed a knife from a nearby drawer, pointed it towards the officers and shouted ‘get out of my house.’ In fear for their safety the officers retreated before withdrawing their Tasers and discharging them at Burton. They then managed to safely detain him and seized the weapon. #taser

New diagnoses in several states pushed the tally of COVID-19 cases past 100, and New Hampshire reported its first patient, raising the total of affected states to 11. Seattle officials announced four more deaths, bringing the total in the US to six. The recent surge in numbers has brought chaotic scenes to supermarkets throughout the country with shoppers lining up with trolleys overflowing with bundles of toilet paper, racks of water bottles and shelves cleaned out of hand sanitizing gel. The Food and Drug Administration yesterday warned it could begin testing up to a million people by the end of the week, as the global total of confirmed cases soared to more than 90,000 today, including 3,117 deaths.
Tornadoes struck central Tennessee early Tuesday morning leaving at least 19 people dead, more than 150 hospitalized and thousands without power. One of the massive 'supercells' swept through downtown Nashville, knocking out power and tearing through at least 50 buildings. More than 47,800 were without power, according to Nashville Electric Service who said four of its substations were damaged. Half of those are customers are located in the Hermitage area. The death toll jumped to 19 on Tuesday, Tennessee Emergency Management Spokeswoman Maggie Hannan said, after police and fire crews spent hours pulling survivors and bodies from wrecked buildings. It's possible the death toll could continue to climb as authorities survey the landscape littered with blown-down walls and roofs, snapped power lines and huge broken trees. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee also said 'a number of people' are still missing and about 156 have been hospitalize. 🌪
