Two people were killed in a massive pileup involving about 200 vehicles on a busy highway south of Montreal, according to Canadian police. Authorities confirmed that the two people, who have not been identified, had been traveling in the same vehicle when it collided with a tank truck on Wednesday during the 200-car pileup in La Prairie, Quebec. Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec said the pair were trapped in their car for hours after the crash before emergency services could pull them from the wreckage. 'We know that these people were involved in a collision with a tank truck, which made the rescue operation more difficult for first responders,' she said.
A 'knifeman' who regularly prayed at Regent's Park mosque 'stabbed a Muslim crier in the shoulder' while he called worshippers to afternoon prayers in an incident the police say is not an act of terror. The victim has been named by mosque-goers as Raafat, aged 69. He is the muezzin at the London Central Mosque, near Regent's Park and calls Muslims to prayer. One witness said the suspect was a regular in the mosque and had been seen at least six months ago, adding that the victim was stabbed in the right shoulder. It is believed that the attacker had waited until prayers had started before launching at the victim. Police were called to the mosque just after 3pm today and found the man with stab wounds. Paramedics treated him at the scene before he was taken to hospital. Officers remain on the scene this evening and another prayer hall as been opened while police continue with their investigations.

This is the incredible moment a paraglider trapped for three hours in power lines in northern California was rescued on Wednesday night. The man, who has not been named, was facing the ground with the wires as his only support when first responders arrived, according to officials with the Olivehurst Fire Department. He got stuck while trying to land at the Yuba County airport during a training exercise, officials said. No major injuries were reported. Power was cut to the surrounding area for a few hours while crews worked to save the man, authorities said.
More than three in four Americans say they are very confident or somewhat confident in the US federal government's ability to handle a coronavirus outbreak, a Gallup poll has found, a higher level of confidence than in previous health scares. Gallup said the results were from a February 3 to February 16 poll that began just days after the Trump administration announced it would suspend entry of foreign nationals who had been to China in the previous two weeks. About 31 percent of respondents said they were very confident and 46 percent said they were somewhat confident in the federal government's ability to handle an outbreak. Only 22 percent said they were not too confident or not confident at all. The combined positive rating of 77 percent compares with 64 percent during the 2017 Zika virus outbreak, 58 percent during the 2014 Ebola virus outbreak and 67 percent during the 2009 H1N1/Swine Flu outbreak, Gallup said.
“The real winner last night was Donald Trump.” Mini Mike Bloomberg. I agree!
