Authorities in Chicago are praising a jogger who spotted a man in the freezing waters of Lake Michigan over the weekend and alerted police. The man ended up being rescued by a pair of #SWAT officers. The Chicago Police Department said the incident happened around 7 a.m. near the 600-block of North Lake Shore Drive after a jogger saw the man fall into the water. "A special thank you also goes out to the individual who looked out for their fellow Chicagoan and flagged down assistance from our first responder community," police said. "As always, if you see something, say something." The man was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Dozens of cannabis companies in Colorado are using Adopt a Highway roadside signs to get around the state's strict limits on marijuana advertising, The Denver Post reported. Around 51 cannabis-related businesses sponsor roadways throughout the state, accounting for a span of 198 miles, according to the Adopt a Highway Maintenance Corp. “The rules governing highways signs are in a different section than rules governing the cannabis industry,” said Nico Pento, government affairs director for Boulder-based Terrapin Care Station, which operates six dispensaries in the Denver metro area. “The highway signs were a loophole that was overlooked.” Colorado adopted regulations limiting how cannabis companies can advertise in an effort to prevent the messages from reaching minors. The companies are prohibited from advertising on television, radio and print unless they can prove the audience is mostly over 21. Rules for advertising on social media are also restrictive.

A veteran #NYPD detective was found dead inside his home in Middle Village, Queens on Monday. 53-year-old Detective Paul Federico was found hanging in the home, located on 79th Street, according to the NY Post. “His wife was in front screaming,” a neighbor told the Post. ‘Why did my husband do this?’” Before his apparent suicide, Federico had been placed on restricted duty and had his service weapons confiscated, the report said — although it was unclear why that move was made. Ten NYPD officers committed suicide in 2019.
