An avalanche at Alpine Meadows ski resort in Northern California killed at least one person and severely injured another. The Sierra Avalanche Center warned of a possible avalanche at all elevations following a storm that passed through the area on Thursday. The storm reportedly brought 25 inches of snow in 24 hours. The Placer County Sheriff's Office posted an update on Twitter, saying it had dispatched a search and rescue team to look for survivors. "PCSO deputies & our Tahoe Nordic Search & Rescue (TNSAR) team has responded to #AlpineMeadows Ski Resort for avalanche near the Subway ski run," the tweet read. "One fatality and one serious injury confirmed." Law enforcement officers performed a search of the area with the help of #K9 units and do not believe there are any additional survivors to be found.

At approximately 9:11 a.m., on Wednesday, January 15th 2020, LVMPD patrol officers were dispatched to a credit union located in the 6900 block of Spring Mountain Road to investigate reports of a shooting. Arriving officers located an adult female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to UMC Trauma and listed in stable condition. The suspect, later identified as 32-year-old William Jackson, fled the scene on foot. Additional officers arrived and were advised by witnesses that Jackson had walked to a parking lot located at 6950 West Desert Inn Road. Officer Simmons entered the parking lot in a marked patrol vehicle and observed Jackson pointing a handgun at him. Officer Simmons fired 3 rounds through his patrol car front windshield missing Jackson. Jackson began running and fired 2 rounds at Officer Simmons who had exited his patrol vehicle by this time. Officer Simmons returned fire, discharging two more rounds. Jackson continued to run until he reached a parking lot located at 3225 South Rainbow where he barricaded behind a parked car near a dumpster enclosure. Officers surrounded Jackson and Crisis Negotiators and SWAT responded. After 2 hours Jackson eventually surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident. Neither Officer Simmons nor Jackson were injured by gunfire.

Yes Its Real: Nagant Hatchet Shoulder Stock

This is an original Russian M1895 7.62mm Nagant revolver which was modified in 1905 for use by Imperial Russia Naval boarding parties. The hatchet could be attached to act as a shoulder stock for the revolver or it could be removed and used by itself as a weapon or tool. Very unique piece! What do you think? More practical than the typical wooden shoulder stocks typically seen on pistols from this time period?
BREAKING NEWS! Four members of a family were killed and one injured in a shooting Friday night in a Salt Lake City suburb. The suspected shooter was taken into custody by Grantsville police, the Deseret News reported. Grantsville Mayor Brent Marshall said the victims and the shooter are all related. “It’s an unfortunate tragedy that has taken place here this evening,” Marshall said. “And I’m sure it will take days or even longer to try and piece together what brought all of this one and why it happened, if we ever get to know why it happened. It’s upsetting. This is normally a very quiet neighborhood, and any time you have children involved in something, it becomes very emotional, very fast.” Police didn’t release the names of the victims or the suspected shooter, who was arrested shortly after police arrived at the home just after 7 p.m. Friday.
Parts of Australia’s east coast were hit by severe storms on Saturday, dousing some of the bushfires that have devastated the region for months but causing road closures and flash flooding, Reuters reported. Despite the heavy rain, authorities were still battling nearly 100 blazes - part of the bushfires that have killed 29 people since September, destroyed more than 2,500 homes and scorched an area nearly one-third the size of Germany. Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, three of the states most hit by drought and bushfires, are now dealing with rain bucketing down in several areas. Major highways were closed in Queensland on Saturday, with the state getting some of the heaviest rain Australia has seen for months, while power was cut in parts of New South Wales after a stormy night. A resident of Burleigh Heads in Queensland even posted a picture showing what he claimed to be a shark floating down his flooded street. 💦💦💦
Internet falls in love with dog named Jubilee who was abandoned for being ‘weird looking’. An adorable dog named Jubilee is in need of a forever home. The Husky House, based out of New Jersey, put out a plea on Facebook and many folks are already expressing interest. According to the animal rescue, the four-year-old female husky came from a breeder who said they couldn’t sell her because she was “weird looking.” Jubilee is a fan of other dogs but does not like cats. She also loves people, however, she is said to be a little shy. Unfortunately, Husky House does not do do long distance adoptions.
