NEW: Fall River MA police released body camera footage from a February shooting that left two officers wounded and an armed suspect dead.

Authorities say Nigel Vaughn opened fire during a struggle with officers after they responded to reports of a man with a gun, striking one officer in the elbow and another in the stomach.

Investigators found Vaughn was carrying a handgun modified with a machine-gun conversion device known as a "switch," and multiple investigations concluded the officers' use of deadly force was justified.

Jeff proudly served his country as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps, followed by a distinguished career as a Supervisory Special Agent with the FBI. He continued his lifelong commitment to public safety with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department and then served the Sandy Springs Police Department for 10 years. Jeff’s dedication to protecting and serving others extended far beyond his career.

BREAKING: Michael Sanft, the defense attorney who represented Duane “Keffe D” Davis in the Tupac Shakur murder trial, has been found dead in Las Vegas, according to Code Three News

Sanft, 54, was reportedly found deceased Thursday night, November 5. His cause of death has not been released, and details surrounding the circumstances remain limited.

Sanft represented Davis during the high-profile trial, which ended in a guilty verdict. He had also planned to appeal the conviction.

Elections have consequences. Governor Gavin Newsom’s decision to commute the death sentences of California’s condemned inmates to life in prison without the possibility of parole is another example of an administration whose actions raise serious questions about its commitment to victims, public safety, and the will of California voters.

This decision has far-reaching consequences, particularly here in Riverside County, where 127 inmates on California’s death row were sentenced for crimes committed in our county. Behind those cases are innocent lives taken, families forever devastated, and communities that continue to live with the consequences of some of the most heinous crimes imaginable.

These sentences were not handed down without due process. They followed extensive investigations, lengthy trials, evidence presented in court, and decisions made by juries and judges.

NEW: A Wisconsin state trooper has been detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and is facing deportation to South Africa, according to his lawyer.

Aaron Van Der Merwe, 21, was detained Thursday as he was waiting to board a domestic flight, according to a statement issued by law firm Christopher & De León.

His attorney, Marc Christopher, claims that when Van Der Merwe showed agents his federal work permit and explained he had a pending asylum application, they told him they "did not care" before detaining and taking him to a detention facility.

When officers arrived shots were fired from inside the home. We have issued a shelter in place order for all homes within a half mile radius as we try to negotiate his surrender.
