82 Years Later, a Lynn Hero Returns Home.
On Friday, October 30, the City of Lynn welcomed home U.S. Army Private Joseph A. Gala, a Lynn native who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country during WWII.
Pvt. Gala was just 21 years old when he was killed in action in Burma on July 14, 1944. After more than eight decades, his remains have finally returned home.
To Pvt. Gala's family, we extend our deepest respect and gratitude for his service and sacrifice.

BREAKING OVERNIGHT: The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office confirmed that seven people were hospitalized following a Halloween birthday party shooting near Edinburg, Texas.
The shooting was reported Saturday at around 11:45 p.m. in the area of FM 2812 and Sunflower Road.
“Upon arrival, deputies determined that an adult birthday party was taking place at the location,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “Deputies located seven victims who had sustained gunshot wounds. The victims’ injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.”

DEVELOPING: A mandatory evacuation order was issued Sunday morning for certain areas of Sedona, Arizona due to flash flooding.
City of Sedona officials said Evacuation Zones 8, 9, and 10 are in a “GO STATUS,” which means anyone in those areas must leave immediately.
An evacuation center was set up at Sedona Red Rock High School (995 Upper Red Rock Loop Rd.).
City officials added Oak Creek is “rising quickly,” reminding citizens to avoid creek beds and washes, and to not cross rushing water that is on the road.

BREAKING: Tragedy in Palm Beach, Florida today as a Learjet 60 nosedives and crashes into the ground.
Nine people were on board the Learjet 60 that crashed into a residential area near Military Trail in suburban Palm Beach County on Sunday afternoon, according to WPBF 25 News.
The jet went down around 12:50 p.m. near Cresthaven. It had departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was headed to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas. The NTSB will lead the investigation, with the FAA assisting.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue declared a mass casualty incident and reported multiple fatalities. Officials have not released the number of dead, and it remains unclear whether anyone on the ground was hurt.

🦉 Another Owl Rescue by a Texas DPS Trooper! 🚔
Another day of service, another feathered friend rescued!
While helping an elderly couple and giving them a ride home, a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper found an injured owl along State Highway 118, southbound toward Terlingua.
The owl was affectionately nicknamed “Walker” after attempting to walk away from the Trooper—and, of course, in honor of the legendary Walker, Texas Ranger! 🤠🦉
The Trooper safely secured Walker and transported him to the Alpine Highway Patrol office, where a Fort Davis Wildlife Biologist picked him up.
Walker was later transported to Midland for further evaluation before making his way to El Paso for rehabilitation.
💙 From helping motorists to protecting wildlife, our Troopers continue to demonstrate that service goes beyond the roadway.
