A federal grand jury has returned a five-count indictment against Eric Lewis, the man accused of fatally shooting Philadelphia Police Sergeant Shane Seiber and wounding Officer Hector Rodriguez III during an ambush earlier this month.

The federal indictment adds another layer of prosecution to a case that has devastated the Philadelphia Police Department.

According to federal prosecutors, Lewis allegedly shot both officers before taking Rodriguez’s department-issued Glock handgun.

The indictment includes charges involving:

Hobbs Act robbery
Discharging a firearm during a crime of violence
Theft of a firearm

Cross-trained in patrol, tracking, and narcotics detection, Hoki served our community with exceptional dedication, bravery, and loyalty alongside his partner and handler, Officer Moran.
