On Tuesday, September 29, 2026, Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) detectives were conducting proactive enforcement near Power Inn Road and 48th Avenue when they observed a sedan committing multiple vehicle code violations.

Detectives conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver and sole occupant, identified as local “rapper” 20-year-old Malikhi Richard.

During the investigation, detectives developed probable cause to search the vehicle. Inside a duffel bag on the rear passenger seat, detectives located two loaded firearms: a Micro Draco AK-47-style pistol equipped with a loaded 60-round magazine and a short-barreled AR-style pistol equipped with a loaded 30-round magazine.

Richard was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on firearm-related charges.

Norte Fire Incident Update

Crews worked throughout the night to attack the fire and strengthen containment lines. The fire remains at 570 acres and is now 5% contained.

As reported yesterday, six homes have been damaged or destroyed. The cause remains under investigation.

NEW: Three suspects two of them in a black Kia sedan and another in a white van burglarized a jewelry store in Downtown LA near the intersection of 7th St and S. Broadway. The suspects used the white van to crash into the storefront and drove off as the other two suspects got out of the Kia and went into the jewelry store. The suspects took an unknown amount of jewelry.

NEW: Two Los Angeles police officers were hospitalized Saturday morning after a pursuit of a reckless driver ended in a crash involving a patrol vehicle and another car in South Los Angeles, authorities said.
The collision occurred around 9:12 a.m. near the intersection of West 54th Street and South Vermont Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police said officers were pursuing a reckless driver when the crash occurred. Both officers suffered minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic loss of Deputy Ira Ynigo, a seven-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, who passed away as a result of a traffic collision.

Deputy Ynigo joined the ranks of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in 2019 after graduating from Academy Class #441. He began his career at Men’s Central Jail and later transferred to the Central Court Bureau, where he served as a bailiff beginning in 2025.

Throughout his years of service, Deputy Ynigo was a valued member of the department, and his dedication will be remembered by those who had the privilege of serving alongside him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all who knew him.
